Govan Picnic & Play Trip to Troon!

2023-08-01T10:24:42+00:00

Picnic & Play Troon Thursday 6th July Jellyfish friends? Naughty Seagull Feather? Hot sweet chai? Anyone fancy digging a really deep hole?! Our Govan Picnic & play group were out in force on Thursday showing the rain clouds who’s boss… or rather showing them who was big as bears!! Thanks to Taz & her groovy moves we strut our stuff in a new game of: Dance grab! before running around in a game of Shark & Seaweed tag We had big fish and little seaweeds, so our big fish really had to get down in the sand and squeeze through. This made us giggle a LOT! It was then time for an adventure to the shore where we found: shells that looked like witches’ fingernails, tiny silver fish sea worms One of our lovely pals found the feathers of a giant bird… maybe an albatross (or possibly the naughty seagull) which Sarah fashioned as a pair of earring… alongside seaweed hair! We enjoyed a delicious picnic, warmed up by hot, sweet chai tea made by one of our lovely Mums’, Ala & Taz drew in the sand while some of us made giant bubbles & some of us got busy digging deep into the sand! Afterwards there was time for a quick play in the playground with Emma, Taz & Sarah while Ruby manned the fort before heading off [...]

With a mix of old faces and new, we got to know each other with our Dancing Warm up! Then our favourite Funky Chicken joined the fun with his crew - the Laughing Hyena, the Angry Elephant, the Angry Lion, the Happy Giraffe and the Happy Cat. We flew high in the sky in our colourful Flying Balloons. We saw the sea and the mountains, the sky and the moon! A zoo full of animals, squawking and merry and flowers that smelled like strawberries! We dressed up to the nines and pulled our scariest grins. Till some witches appeared with a cackle and giggle! I’m going to drink a bottle of p-p-p-p-p-POISON!! With a narrow escape we arrived at our p-p-p-p-p-PICNIC and enjoyed a feast of bread, watermelon, cheese, boiled eggs and cucumber sticks. The Forest Grannies and the Monster Trees!

2023-05-22T09:37:42+00:00

Week 3 Wednesday 17th May In the deep deep forest of Govan one can enjoy many interesting places and spot fantastic creatures. Have you ever seen a Silly Cat and Scary Cat hang out together? Or a Slithering Snake roaming in the undergrowth? What about a Crazy Dolphin bathing in a pond or a Dying Fly chilling on the ground? There’s a Small Ant over there and Big Elephant over here! A Sleepy Giraffe taking a nap, a Quacking Duck dancing about and a Barking Dog saying hello from afar! Then there’s the part of the woods where the Forest Grannies live… Granny Chibu likes cereal for breakfast. Granny Ala has a forest room inside her house! She has trees with apples, oranges and watermelon and she makes chips for breakfast! Granny Zakiyah has a medium sized tree house. She lives with her family and likes omelettes in the morning! Granny Anas lives in a candy house & Granny Tibyan lives in a treehouse. They both grow pumpkins and make pumpkin soup for breakfast.  Granny Firas and Granny Shams grow oranges, apples, mangos and pineapples and they have bread and milk & cookies for breakfast. And all these Grannies know that although it may sound like a rumour, the truth is that the trees at the far far end of their garden turn into Monster Trees when the [...]

A Day out with the Pirate Crew after a very Mucky Brew!

2023-05-15T10:24:02+00:00

Week 2 Wednesday 10th May ‘The sun and that is another sun. The fish. Fish fish fish fish!’  The Govan Pirate Crew lined up ready for inspection. What a collection of misfits! Captain Smelly Beard got everyone working on the ship scrubbing the deck, climbing the rigging and even walking the plank! This week we created fantastic pirates with our dressing up bag of old clothes and we met such brilliant looking characters: Captain Fiddle and Captain Silly, Captain Smelly Pirate Silly Potato and a beautifully dressed pirate who claimed ‘I’m from Paris!’ We went on a Sea Adventure and we swam, surfed and discovered that the sea can be calm and relaxing and stormy and terrible too! And it’s full of fish, fish, fish! We had a fire at the shore to cook some fish we caught, they had incredible flavours like  Chocolate, fish, marshmallow and pineapple. And to top it all up we had some sticky marshmallows too! But before all that we got stuck into a very Mucky Brew. We wore, amongst other things, an ostrich egg, mango, strawberries more strawberries and sliced banana, peanut butter & jelly, water, hot chocolate and avocado…all over our bodies! What a Mucky Mucky Brew! Another great afternoon with our families in Govan enjoying the possibilities of our imaginations, eating together and having a right good laugh. ‘I drew [...]

Tomato Pie in a Californian Garden

2023-04-03T09:18:35+00:00

Porridge & Play Maryhill is a Licketyspit Storyplay project for families with 3-8 year olds in the area. Find all of Porridge & Play Maryhill & Ruchill's adventures here! Blog post written by Sarah! Fabulous Grannies! Wednesday 29th March A truly fabulous time was had by all on our wonderful forest adventure and we met some great new friends! Forest creatures First we saw some huge bears who were actually quite gentle, some very sneaky foxes and a lot of beautiful swooping and gliding birds. Funnily enough, that Funky Chicken also had some amazing pals to introduce us to and I don’t think we’ll ever forget Rita’s Just a Dog who was so bouncy and Ameerah’s Fat Lion, who was very strong, Jdile’s T Rex Dino, who was very tall and Mohammed’s Crazy Owl, who flew super fast.  The Catwalk After all this animal excitement, we decided to get dressed up and show everyone our fine costumes on the Catwalk - there were so many colourful characters and styles, it was just spectacular! Tomato Pie We decided with glee that we all looked like incredibly glamorous grannies and in that second, we were mysteriously transported to the wild forests of California where we found ourselves smack, bang in the middle of Granny Ameerah’s garden which was covered in tomato plants. She was the most friendly [...]
