Picnic & Play
Picnic & Play is a version of Porridge & Play that takes place in outdoor or cultural venues, such as a museums, galleries and parks.
Rather than soup or porridge, we have a picnic meal, with the same delicious fruit and crunchy veg, cheese and hummus! Find out more about the food in the Lickety Kitchen!
These Storyplay sessions include drama-led games, rhymes, songs and imaginary play for the whole family, followed by a delicious group picnic. We explore the spaces we’re in and adapt our play to make the most of them. Sometimes the session ends with Reflective Drawing and the Lickety Gallery, where everyone is invited to present their drawing and talk about what they thought about the session. Other times it ends with games on the bus home!

Picnic&Play – Glasgow Botanics
Picnic & Play is an opportunity for members of the Licketyspit Children & Families network to meet and play the games they know together, and explore new cultural spaces near where they live. It is also an opportunity for new families to discover Licketyspit.
We have held Picnic & Play at venues including Troon Beach, WHALE Arts, North Edinburgh Arts, the Glasgow and Edinburgh Botanics, City Arts Centre, GoMA, Lauriston Castle, the Tall Ship, the Riverside Museum, Glasgow Green, the Glasgow Women’s Library and Balloch Castle Country Park.

“The picnic was fab! Did not expect so much lovely fruit! Thank you for a fabulous playtime!” (Mum, Edinburgh Botanic Gardens)
“We really enjoyed being here. This is good thing to take us out of our stress for a while.“ (Mum, GoMA)
These FREE sessions are very popular and spaces are limited. Where we have open sessions, we sometimes have a ticket ballot system – email CFN@licketyspit.com or text 0741 380 0342 to tell us if you would like to attend a session.
