Wednesday 20th April We are the pirates BOLD! We don’t give a monkeys if it’s COLD! We don’t care if the world is BIG! We don’t give a monkeys & we don’t give a FIG! WE ARE PIRATES! Our motley crew were puzzled when Pirate Andre started to run around screaming with excitement followed by Captain Taz screaming even louder with excitement…  ‘You found it! Wednesday 30th March Licketyspit & our Castlemilk pals got together once again at Castlemilk Community Centre on the last Wednesday before the Easter holidays. We sat around the table tucking into our beautiful food and we welcomed a new family Yang, Li, Celine & Lewis who joined in with lovely smiles, ready for some Porridge & Play! ‘I am a witch! HAHAHAHA!’ The witchy cackles could be heard all over Castlemilk! Anita was a very cheery witch & Catherine the Witch tickled Taz to the ground when she got her!! METHOD: -Walk about your community and get to your nearest Community Centre. -Say hi to everyone and find the Porridge & Play room - Enjoy a lovely bowl of soup & bread, fresh fruit and juice while you have a catch up with your friends - Make a nice BIG CIRCLE so you can see everyone and everyone can see you! - Warm up your body, voice and brain with Big As A Bear - Have a round of Funky Chicken - Dress up in old clothes to create a fabulous character like, for example, a Crazy Chef - Sit in your Big Circle in front of the biggest imaginary mixing bowl you’ve ever encountered and get all the Chefs to add in any ingredients that takes their fancy! - Mix it all up, transfer to the big cake tin and bake in the oven! Wednesday 16th March In a Haunted House with cobwebs, and maybe even some spiders but no ghosts, lived three Grannies: Granny Arwa, Granny Hadir and Granny Mosaab. Granny Summer was just visiting. Grannies Emma, Levi and Jared lived in a tree house and in their garden they grew all types of veg and in their orchard they had bananas and strawberries and even blueberries. However their favourite breakfast was still corn flakes! Granny Bunny and Granny Areeb lived in a mansion by the trees at the bottom of their garden, the ones at the edge of the Deep Deep Forest. But the trees, the tress hold a secret! They turn into slowly creeping MONSTERS when the Grannies are not looking! The Castlemilk Hub pals dressed up with terrific gusto! Wednesday 9th March The cheers were so loud I bet you everyone could hear it across Castlemilk! We opened the Castlemilk Porridge & Play hub on Wednesday 9th March and let me tell you, we had a fabulous turn out. 10 families from Castlemilk got together at Castlemilk Community Center to eat, hang out and play together. We have a lovely big room at the centre with big windows and plenty of space to set up a big table for all to sit and tuck into some delicious fruit and a homemade vegetable soup with fresh bread! All while having a catch up and getting to know each other. Circles are great to see everyone and for everyone to see you! Our Castlemilk circle sure was big on our first session together! Porridge & Play Castlemilk launch! ‘I loved playing and meeting new friends!’ was what one of our Castlemilk children had to say about our launch on Tuesday 8th February. Licketyspit got together with our local Storyplay Champions at  Castlemilk Parish Church to host the launch of Porridge & Play Castlemilk. It was so much fun to come together with from Castlemilk and around the world for our New Scots Integration Project. A part of Porridge & Play is coming together and eating together to build connections and get to know one another. Castlemilk Parish Church was such a wonderful space to do this in with their community based kitchen. It was perfect for us to make our homemade vegetable soup and to prepare lots of fun fruits so that we could have plenty of fuel for our play session! After fuelling our bodies we got together in a circle. We LOVE circles at Licketyspit as circles mean that everyone can see you and you can see everyone. Circles mean everyone is part of the game and as we know games are best played when everyone is playing! In our circle we got to be a BIG as a BEAR and met lots of amazing Funky Chicken animals!
