We played a new game shared by Sayeda called the Circle Game! In this game you make a circle out of old clothes or scarves. Everyone but 1 person stands in the circle. You can’t leave the circle and you have to avoid getting tagged by the person outside the circle! The circle gets smaller and smaller the less people that are inside it until everyone is outside the circle! Block 3 Week 2 of Porridge & Play Castlemilk Wednesday 3rd August We enjoyed playing As Big As A House at Porridge & Play Castlemilk today and our Storyplay Champion Michelle said she really liked it! We also discovered that everyone had some fabulous new dance moves in Andre’sDance Warm-up and it felt amazing to give our bodies a good stretch! We were so lucky to find lots of new games as it was the children’s turn to teach us! We were all very excited to play Khadar and Yahey’s ‘Monster’ game, which involved everyone finding a place to hide so they don’t get caught by the monster. Block 3 Week 2 of Porridge & Play Castlemilk Wednesday 27th July Such an inspiring and playful session this week! We started off with a funky Dance Warm Up and showed Andre all our cool moves and then we played The Funky Chicken, Arwa showed us how the Weird Dolphin spins round and round! Freya did the Crazy Koala who likes to side-cuddle her Mum! Avery showed us the Dancing Zebra! This week we found out about all the fabulous games the Castlemilk mums played when they were kids. Block 3 Week 1 of Porridge & Play Castlemilk Wednesday 20th July What a lovely afternoon we had for our first session back at Porridge & Play Castlemilk!! Arwa and Hadir are experts in play and showed us by making themselves as BIG as a BEAR!!! We think we could have some future actor pedagogues! We had a lovely session with some wonderful families and we found out all about each of them! Amira told us how hot it was in Egypt and that she had studied Chemistry at University in Cairo and enjoys cooking a traditional dish called Dolma which has cabbage and rice and lots of herbs. We went back to one of our favourite places to Storyplay, which is the Riverside Museum! The Riverside Museum is the first purpose-built museum created by Glasgow Life in the 21st century. Located at the junction of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde, it houses the city’s fabulous transport and technology collections, which have been gathered over the centuries and which reflect the important part Glasgow has played in the world through its contributions to heavy industries like shipbuilding, train manufacturing and engineering. The museum was designed by internationally renowned architect, Dame Zaha Hadid. The Glasgow Science Centre is a fun attraction for all the family!! Filled with lots to discover and explore we thought it was a perfect place for Storyplay to happen. The Science Centre is made of three floors filled with hands on activities and discovery. From the Whacky Salon to Flight Simulations there is so much to explore and learn. You can also bring a picnic to enjoy! Sally and Sheena work at the Science Centre and help families gain access. There are lots of ways you can go to the Science Centre one being you can pay with tickets costs £12.50 for an adult or £10.50 for a child. You can also get a Passport to Science by speaking with the Science Centre which gets you access lots of times! As part of our New Scots Integration project, Porridge & Play Hubs, we invited Ghanaian dancer Adie Baako to take us on a family art voyage in Bridgeton, Castlemilk & Cranhill. What a welcome back it was - we had families old and new join us for a very special Session 1 of Block 2 and we all had a fantastic time. Friday 3rd June 'This has been the best day of my whole life!' – Alan We got to explore a grand Loch when visiting Balloch Castle Country Park! We loved showing Mary-Anne the Storyplay way and met some exciting sea creatures along the way. We started off our great adventure meeting Jim the bus driver! Jim drives coaches and was excited to show us how big and long and comfy his bus was! It was so exciting taking a coach to a new place, we talked about what we would see and what we would do at Balloch. Wednesday 1st June  WE ARE THE CASTLEMILK GIANTS!!   The staircase to the Hunterian Museum is so great that only giants could climb it! Remember the Magic Cup we found in one of our Magic Ball adventures? Jared had it with him so we all took a sip and …the Castlemilk Giants climbed up the beautiful huge staircase and found Ruth, who works at the Hunterian Museum! Wednesday 18th May Magic Map, Magic Map show us the path to CASTLEMILK PARK! Jack’s Magic Map showed us that in fact Emma, Jared & Levi knew the path already and so they took the lead and guided us all from Castlemilk Community Centre to the woods at the heart of Castlemilk Park where we met our new friend, Stuart! It was a lovely afternoon and we merrily walked using Jack’s Magic Map to guide us into the heart of Castlemilk Park. With Jared’s help we were able to find Park Ranger Stuart! Stuart told us to follow him, to be careful with our steps as the woods have bumpy grounds and to keep our eyes and ears at the ready, for the woods do have many creatures and interesting wildlife for everyone to enjoy.
