Heelie-go-Leerie

A play about PLAY!

Three people from different places. Three people holding up the same roof and needing to find the answer to a question…

We meet in the playground but where have we come from and where are we going? To the moon? To the stars even? And what will we find? Dragons in the dustbin? Fishes on the roof?

Set in the world of playground games and children’s stories, rhymes and songs in several languages and dialects, including Scots, Heelie-go-Leerie is an irresistible exuberant show, which celebrates the riches of childhood and the energy, wit and tenacity of children – no matter what!

“a truly rich and original children’s theatre experience…. something tremendously courageous and important here, in the determination to create a show truly based on the rhythm of children’s imaginations at work, on sudden random flashes of inspiration, fragments of rhyme, and brief rushes of narrative invention. The cast work their way through it with terrific commitment and understanding, and the whole audience is charmed, touched and just slightly changed.” The Scotsman

“Virginia Radcliffe’s charming script reminds us all that in the absence of PlayStations, Wiis and TV, children will always find a way to entertain themselves, if we’d only let them.” The LIST

“Utterly child centred theatre. The whole school from nursery to P7 were transfixed!” Senior Teacher, Edinburgh.

“Never seen my kids and husband laugh so much you made my kids smile almost as much as Santa, thank you and hurry back to Ullapool!”  Mum, Ullapool
