Porridge & Play Hubs in Castlemilk, Bridgeton & Cranhill
In 2022, Licketyspit set up three new family play hubs as part of our 2022 New Scots Integration Project, designed to bring children & their families together through the power of Storyplay! With the help of our partners, our Storyplay Champions and the families we work with, we have created vibrant, friendly hubs that giveour children & families a loving and safe community.
The Story so far…
Storyplay Champion training
In autumn 2021, we ran Storyplay Champion training sessions online, for local professionals and families who would help us launch our new hubs.
Porridge & Play Block 1 – February-April
Porridge & Play was all about getting together to share a meal and do Storyplay! We worked with our partners Cranhill Development Trust, Church House and the Indigo Childcare group to deliver this block.
Castlemilk Porridge & Play – The Indigo Childcare Group- Launched in February, then Wednesdays (3:30-5:30pm) March-April
Cranhill Porridge & Play – Cranhill Development Trust- Launched in February, then Thursdays (4-6pm) March-April
Bridgeton Porridge & Play – Church House – Launched in February, then Fridays (4-6pm) March-April
Picnic & Play – May-July
In 2019 we did Picnic & Play with our Porridge & Play groups in the Gorbals, Ruchill and Whiteinch and these ‘trips’ were a real highlight for all of our participants.
We brought this back for Porridge & Play Bridgeton, Cranhill & Castlemilk, going on a great Scottish Adventure around Glasgow and beyond.
Venues included the Science Centre, Balloch Castle Country park, the Riverside Museum, the Huntarian museum, Castlemilk Park, Troon Beach, the Forth & Clyde Canal, the Sensory Hub, the Dream Machine, the Glasgow Women’s Library and the Tall Ship!
we’d like to say a big thanks to all of our partners!
AllScot Playcards – July-August 2022!
Porridge & Play was back in July for more fun games and more yummy food! In these sessions we also worked with you to create some fun new ALLSCOT playcards! At Licketyspit we play the Lickety Playcard games during our sessions. From the Funky Chicken to Flying Balloons these playcards are easy to understand and great for intergenerational family friendly play. In this block we collaborated with YOU to make playcards about the other games you like to play or played as child.

The Storyplay Festival
On Saturday 17th September, we held our first ever Storyplay Festival, to celebrate the project and bring everyone together in Dassie Park (on Glasgow Green) for a day of Storyplay, family art voyages, Lickety Mums multicultural picnic & more!
