Porridge & Play Castlemilk

Welcome to the Porridge & Play Castlemilk Page!

Porridge & Play Castlemilk is a family play hub set up by Licketyspit as part of our 2022 New Scots Integration Project designed to bring children & their families together through the power of Storyplay!

With the help of our partners, Storyplay Champions and the families we work with we have been able to deliver a vibrant, friendly hub that gives our children & families a loving and safe community.

Since February 2022 we have gotten to know some of the wonderful children & families of Castlemilk! We started off with a six week block of Porridge & Play which was hosted alongside our lovely partners at Indigo Childcare Group! Taz, Andre, Sarah, Rhianne & Ruby had so much fun playing and getting to know each and everyone of our amazing families. We also worked alongside our amazing Storyplay Champions Nicola & Michelle.

We then started our second block of sessions – Picnic & Play! These exciting trips let us explore all over Glasgow and even venture outside! We went to Castlemilk Park, The Hunterian Museum, Troon Beach, Castlemilk Community Centre, the Riverside Museum & Glasgow Science Centre!

It’s so important to explore the wonderful free cultural activities on offer, and doing so as part of our lovely group helps us bond, connect and know these spaces belong to all of us! Families bring food to share, letting us explore lots of different cultures through really yummy flavours, and we play our favourite Storyplay games in some of our new favourite places.

Then we went back to Castlemilk Community Centre creating exciting new Licketyspit Playcards – Castlemilk style! At Licketyspit we believe that we all need what children need! And what better way to showcase that by remembering our favourite childhood games with our children – and even inventing some new ones. Find them below.
