Welcome to the Porridge & Play Bridgeton Page!
Porridge & Play Bridgeton is one of our family play hubs, set up as part of our 2022 New Scots Integration Project, designed to bring children & their families together through the power of Storyplay! With the help of our partners, Storyplay Champions and the families we work with we have started a vibrant, friendly hub that gives children & families a loving and safe community.
‘It feels like family! You look forward to it every week, it’s all she talks about.’
Since February 2022 we have gotten to know the wonderful children & families of Porridge & Play Bridgeton! We started off with a six week block of Porridge & Play which was hosted alongside our lovely partners at Churchy! Effie, Andre, Rhianne & Ruby had so much fun playing and getting to know each and every one of our amazing families. We also worked alongside our fabulous Storyplay Champion Nicola who was a real champion of play!
‘It was the best day of my life!’ – Picnic & Play to Balloch
At the end of May we started our second block of sessions known as Picnic & Play! These exciting trips let us explore all over Glasgow and even venture outside the city! We went to Calton Heritage & Learning Centre, Glasgow Women’s Library, Glasgow Green, Balloch Castle Country Park, the Science Centre, Dream Machine & The Tallship! It’s so important to explore the wonderful free cultural activities on offer, and doing so as part of our lovely group helps us bond, connect and know these spaces belong to all of us! Families bring food to share, letting us explore lots of different cultures through really yummy flavours, and we play our favourite Storyplay games in some of our new favourite places.
‘Lexi’s been playing all week, she keeps shouting ‘Do you know the Funky Chicken?’ at me when we’re walking down the street and I have to do it’
In Block 3 we were back at Churchy creating exciting new Licketyspit Playcards – Bridgeton style! It was great to be joined by Arriann too. At Licketyspit we believe that we all need what children need! And what better way to showcase that by remembering our favourite childhood games with our children – and even inventing some new ones.
Porridge & Play Bridgeton also cohosted our very first STORYPLAY FESTIVAL!
