Block 3 Week 3 of Porridge & Play Cranhill

Thursday 18th August

What an energetic session that was! Everyone was raring to go as soon as they arrived with a fabulous Dance Warm-Up!

In this session we went exploring to find out what kind of games everyone likes to play when they’re not at Licketyspit and we got so many games from all of you! It was amazing!

Priscilla told us about Hopscotch, Genesis told us about Hide n Seek and we learnt so many different kinds of Tag…

There was Chaos Tag, where everyone is ‘it’ and if you Tag someone at the same time you have to do Rock, Paper Scissors to see who’s out

Disco Tag where you have to do a dance move if someone tags you and you can only be freed when someone copies you

Toilet Tag where you freeze with your arm out straight and then you are freed by someone flushing your arm like a toilet

Queen Tag where you tag someone by saying ‘kill’ and then freeze like a statue and someone can release you by tapping you on the shoulder and saying ‘release’;

Tunnel Tag where someone has to crawl between your legs to free you from the tag

Horses and Jockeys where there are two jockeys who have to go around and tag all their horses to send them back to the stable but the other horses can go and grab the horses out of the stable and bring them back out to the field to play again

As well as Shiva’s Tag, Floor, Lava!

When Tiwani taught us Chaos Tag I asked why he liked it so much and he said:

‘Because there are no winners, so there are no losers and no-one gets sad!’

Isn’t that brilliant? We love games where you can enjoy the fun of taking part without worrying about being a winner or a loser. Playing the game is what is fun!

For Shiva’s game we couldn’t climb on anything in the room like she would when she plays it outside of Licketyspit so she improvised a new way to play the game on the spot. We sat in a circle on chairs and had to keep our feet off the ground whilst someone who was ‘it’ had to go round and get us to drop our feet. It was so hard to keep your feet off the ground the more tired we got but it was so funny watching people try and sneakily put their foot down so that the catcher couldn’t see it!

Princewill told us that he loves swimming and showed us his favourite way to swim so we all jumped into the water and swam around and shared what we could see but every time someone saw a shark or a crocodile we had to FREEZE and wait until the animal had gone past us so we could safely swim again!

Shaylin taught us all how to play Trees where she stood at the opposite end of the hall and everyone else had to be a tree and slowly creep towards her when she wasn’t looking but if she caught you moving then you had to go and join her at the other end and become her look out!

There were so many games today that involved running around I couldn’t believe how much energy we all had left at the end. What a fun session!
