AND then someone said... "Joe? Are you busy?" We all said "NO!" Pushed all the buttons till each and every limb was occupied ready to burst... or rather we were really ready to... DRESS UP AS PIRATES! And enter the magic ball. Through the magic ball we found a pirate crew...we didn't have a ship but we did make it to pirate island. On pirate island we saw PREHISTORIC ANIMALS & ran away from cannibals. Suddenly a blue whale appeared. It was a relief that Harris could speak Whale! Harris told us that the whale was desperately hungry. All hands were brought on deck to feed the whale (although pirate ship)..but we did [...]

Fares showed us his ‘cool dance moves’ and Juliette shared her Irish Dancing! Then we were amazed by Funky Lions, Beautiful Unicorns and Dancing Dragons. After Cackling our way through Witches Fingers we feasted under the trees (some of us climbed into them!) on baguettes and cheese & fruit! Then we ran to explore the CHILDREN”S WOOD. From Bridgeton to Troon – dancing, sea, sand & a big bye to Ruby!

Salsa, Sand, Sea & Send offs TROON We had a WONDERFUL trip to TROON with the Bridgeton Families! Some of us – led by Taz & Andre - had to dance on the sea wall to keep the Naughty Seagulls away from our Picnic – which was especially delicious because Tarika had made us DEELICIOUS chickpea stew & rice that we all LOVED & enjoyed along with our crusty French baguettes with, cheese, tomatoes, apples, bananas, tangerines and strawberries! We played Big as a Bear and Hello! My Name is Joe, Funky Chicken and CoCo. We danced and then we ran across the huge sandy beach and paddled in the waves! Most of us went to the playpark too before we came back for The Magic Clap and Muffins. The sun had come out! And we couldn’t choose what we’d enjoyed most about the day because it was ALL JUST LOVELY! It was also a bit sad and wonderful – sad because it was Ruby’s last day with the Licketyspit families as CFN Producer. Lots of people had send her Good Luck messages, and some of the Bridgeton Mums/Grans gave her a beautiful Hamper of Pamper! (box of relaxing treats!) and some gorgeous flowers – wonderful because it has been SO GREAT having Ruby at Licketyspit and we all LOVE her! AND we know she will never [...]

International Play Association Conference

Storyplay Champions rock the IPA Conference 8th June 2023 We were so proud of our 13 Storyplay Champion children & mums showing the world what children can do at the International Play Association Conference! Earlier this month they joined Taz, Andre, Ruby and myself and represented the whole Licketyspit Children & Families Network at the IPA conference. The power of play, human connection and creativity improves our lives and we really felt that reverberate around the 500 strong conference hall as we kicked the day off with some Storyplay. Mahek, Fiire, Simmi, Pemi, William, Fatima, Ibrahim, Sam, Shawn, Desire and Lexi led the whole conference in the Funky Chicken! They showed delegates how we like to dress up, and then invited them on an adventure in the Magic Ball! Imagine, 500 people on a Storyplay adventure together - led by the children! After that it was up to the Lantern Room for a more intimate Storyplay session where delegates joined in with Witches Fingers and Grandma Grandma as well as dressing up themselves and diving into the sea on another adventure, whoooooosh! The afternoon was spent picnicking, playing and interviewing delegates about how they like to play, their homes and their views on children's rights. Big thanks to all the delegates from far and near who engaged with the children and families on this very special [...]

Wednesday 5th July The Porridge & Play Castlemilk pals took the library by storm again this Wednesday. We had a rollicking adventure featuring a mucky brew, a giant and some very tasty marshmallows! We danced, dressed up and met, among others, the Funny Camel, the Hungry Hippo, the Happy Crocodile and the Funky Unicorn. The Magic Ball took us to Spaghetti Land where we had to suck up enough spaghetti to create a path. In amongst the tomatoey strands, Maryam spotted some gummy sweeties - yum! Then a Bog Creature appeared and invited us to join in their favourite activity - getting mucky! Slugs and flies, syrup and smashed up strawberries, we were soon as mucky as could be. We poured on some melted chocolate to top it all off! Mucky me mucky you mucky mucky mucky brew! Then we danced a dance in a long long line, and to our surprise, whoosh! A wave came along to wash us clean. Kevin saw a shark so we pretended to be seaweed, then when it was safe we floated on our backs, relaxing in the waves. Safe at the shore, Desire lit a fire and we toasted marshmallows with [...]
