Find out what we got up to at our latest Picnic and Play in the Hidden Gardens! Refugee Week! Saturday 17th June We had a wonderful time taking part in Refugee Festival 2023 celebrations earlier this month!  We all gathered at the Hidden Gardens alongside our friends from Kin Kitchen and the Hidden Gardens Team.  We did lots of playing, dressing up and even went into the sea for a cool dip before the wolves told us it was time for gymnastics! It wasn't quite lunchtime but we did fancy a little cake so we put our imaginations together to make a cake from a very particular recipe that included the ingredients  chocolate, sprinkles, snails and salty strawberries After all that playing we tucked into a delicious and nutritious veggie picnic made by Kin Kitchen who afterwards helped and inspired us to make our own pickled mixtures! As well that, many of us enjoyed learning from the Hidden Gardens team about different plants and herbs and how we can look after our own at home!  At the end of the day a real highlight was dressing up potatoes for an almighty 'Wacky Potato Parade'. Find out what the Bridgeton group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Celebration! Friday 2nd June Well would you believe it, this block of Porridge & Play has come to an end. It just feels like yesterday we were rocking up to St Francis in the East and introducing our new Actor-Pedagogue Steven to our friends in Bridgeton. He's definitely part of the family now, in fact last Friday's session just felt like a bunch of pals getting together for a family party. We were joined by... The lazy frog The delicious banana Moira's Singing Cow Holly's Funky Butterfly Zainah's loud horse Abaker's first Monkey! and the Slithering and Fast Snake! We danced around as everyone arrived, dressed up as explorers and took off in the Magic Ball! We arrived in a very windy place. Zainah had some kites which we were really enjoying flying when suddenly there was a tornado!! Whoosh we tried to avoid it but off we went! We landed beside a very important chef in need of a very important recipe. Luckily we were up to the task, helping the chef make the most delicious of cakes using Strawberry icing sugar, Strawberry, Milk, Chocolate, Rainbow sprinkles, Tuna, Blueberries, Banana, Eggs & Flour! Find out what the Cranhill  group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Week 5 of Porridge & Play Cranhill 2023 Thursday 1st June It was a beautiful Sunny day for the final session of this Porridge & Play block at Cranhill  So we spent the whole session in the garden! We all danced in our circle - and some of us cartwheeled!! We were BIG as BEARS, FAST as HARES and our BIRDS laid our Giant EGGS! We flew high above Glasgow with our Balloons (we saw dinosaurs covered in popcorn & waffles!) and above the whole world. We dressed up as animals - like a Butterfly, a Bison, a unicorn &  2 Giraffes!  We had an amazing Magic Ball adventure unzipping the ball to find we were in water & we needed to SWIM! We met Wolfie’s Potato, Banana, Lago, Mila, Amelia, Biscuit, Chocolate and Tough! They all had extraordinary watches and we forest animals needed to know the time! They had us dancing at 1 o’clock and cycling at 5 o’clock but of course we had to listen out and run away when it was DINNER TIME! A Pizza Marshmallow Celebration Cake!

Celebration Wednesday 31st May Squishy Chocolate? Pineapple pizza? How about some M&Ms? My name is Chef Fanciful and it’s wonderful to be joined by so many friends! For our final session of this block, Porridge & Play Govan got down to some dancing, flying and baking! ‘It’s me baking the cake. I wished I could have a cake and the wish came true. (What did the cake have?) ‘Chocolate bananas, cake and pizza’ Bayan, 8 ‘This is a spider and a snake and a giraffe. This is a rocket’ (and on the other side…) ‘A cake! This is fire’ Ohi, 3 Sprinkles? Hard cheese? Strawberry laces? With this cake my bakery is really going places! We were so energetic helping Joe in the Button Factory and showing our best moves as all our friends arrived! Then Steven found some Flying Balloons, red and spotty and silver and blue. Up we flew, ever so high We saw tigers, giraffes and had a snow ball fight in the sky! We waved to our friends and circled around till a blue seagull POP! Took us back to the ground. Find out what the Bridgeton group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Week 4 Friday 26th May The weather has been so much warmer this week and the Bridgeton pals have been noticing it! It felt like Friday afternoon was the perfect time to gather together with our friends and go for a lovely refreshing flight on our Flying Balloons to look for a nice beach! Ready and…BLOW! The sea was green and blue and the water was at a perfect temperature! We relaxed in the calm sea and discussed the different creatures we might find, like sharks or even orca whales.  And then a notion…what about an underwater exploration? Three, two, one, TAKE A BIG BREATH! We swam like seahorses and ran around like crabs. We found keys that opened all opened a big treasure chest! ICE CREAM! ICCE CREAM! Come and get yours! This Ice Cream maker was something else. You could ask for any flavour and she would just make it for you there and then! 25th May 2023 Presenting Licketyspit's 2022/23 Annual Report! We had a fantastic year working on lots of brilliant projects with wonderful families and partners. This included innovative training & co-delivery with Scottish Women's Aid, establishing new Porridge & Play hubs in Bridgeton, Castlemilk & Cranhill and getting back to in person sessions in some of our other communities. Highlights included: New Scots Porridge & Play Hubs Women's Aid Storyplay Big Porridge & Play Glasgow Year 6 Our first Storyplay Festival  Lickety Mums This report also includes a summary of our 2021/22 activity, as we were so busy last year we didn't manage to publish a report! Many of our projects spanned both years, some of the distinct 2021/22 activities were: Family Art Voyage Storyplay for the Planet National Museum of Scotland Film Virginia, our Artistic Director, said: "Licketyspit has been very busy over the last few years and we are grateful to the funders who have allowed us to break new ground training Women's Aid Workers and establishing new Porridge & Play Hubs, staying connected with our online community and taking Storyplay as a children's rights approach to new heights and possibilities. Find out what the Cranhill  group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Week 4 of Porridge & Play Cranhill 2023 Thursday 25th May The sun was beaming on the Cranhill Pals and the Cranhill Development Trust Garden proved the best outdoor space to play! Everyone felt energised by the heat and the sunlight and smiles abounded, so our dance warm up felt bouncier than ever. Rainbow Trout Chef meets the Genius Chefs Of Cranhill Rainbow Trout Chef needed some bright new ideas to get a new job! Luckily he was visiting Cranhill, home of The Genius Chefs: Chef Melissa, Chef Amazing, Super Hero Chef, Lazy Chef, Chef Coolio, The 2 Blind Chefs, Chef invisible, Chef disaster, French chef, Ninja Chef, Grandma chef, Gymnast chef and the infamous Chef Johnny Johnson. Together they put their culinary genius to work and came up with the wildest cake recipe!  You’ll need the following ingredients: Love and kindness Strawberries Sprinkles and icing Raspberries Gymnastic food Egg Rainbow Chocolate Amazonian Lemons Rainbow sprinkles Butter icing Vanilla Rainbow drops Weetabix Trout fish Flour Banana Baking powder Orange juice And to decorate get plenty of Rainbow icing, Rainbow chocolate, Chocolate, Rainbow webs and Cream! An Afternoon at the Bridgeton Forest

Find out what the Bridgeton group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Week 3 Friday 19th May We had a lovely Friday afternoon with our Bridgeton pals at Porridge & Play! Everyone was very smiley and looking forward to getting their weekend started and there was a very jolly atmosphere at the church! Our circle is really quite big as there are so many of us up for a good time. We love starting with a good boogie The grown ups are always ready for any fantastic shapes the children may throw at them! Alan and Shae are fast with their footwork but Moira, Niamat, Colleen or Arafa have no problem keeping up with that! Make Yourself as Big As A Bear!! The littlest ones like Maab and Emilia know every word to our favourite warm up and Mohammed really loves swooping and gliding like the Bird. Find out what the Cranhill  group got up to in their latest Storyplay adventure!  Week 3 of Porridge & Play Cranhill 2023 Thursday 18th May Glorious Grannies! Grandma Tippy Tippy Shaylin loves reindeer and the animals in the forest. She feeds the animals carrots that she grows herself. Grandma Amelia lives in a pink house made out of wood. She makes pancakes with syrup for breakfast. Miss Granny Smith grows granny smith apples and she puts sweet decorations on her apples - sparkles that you can eat! Her house is made of brick and has a big maple roof. The door is rainbow and the windows are plain black. She has a full farm. She’s got a shed full of cows and foxes and sheep and horses. She feeds her trees apples, cherries, strawberries, and tomatoes! Yes, feeds them! And Grandma Young has a house with clouds for a roof! It has blue doors and rainbow grass. She grows fruit in her garden - her favourite are strawberries! All these glorious Grannies have funny looking trees that when the Grannies are busy turn into naughty monsters! They slowly creep around trying to give the Grannies a wee fright and everyone has wonderful fun. In another part of the forest live the Wee Witches! The Forest Grannies and the Monster Trees!

Week 3 Wednesday 17th May In the deep deep forest of Govan one can enjoy many interesting places and spot fantastic creatures. Have you ever seen a Silly Cat and Scary Cat hang out together? Or a Slithering Snake roaming in the undergrowth? What about a Crazy Dolphin bathing in a pond or a Dying Fly chilling on the ground? There’s a Small Ant over there and Big Elephant over here! A Sleepy Giraffe taking a nap, a Quacking Duck dancing about and a Barking Dog saying hello from afar! Then there’s the part of the woods where the Forest Grannies live… Granny Chibu likes cereal for breakfast. Granny Ala has a forest room inside her house! She has trees with apples, oranges and watermelon and she makes chips for breakfast! Granny Zakiyah has a medium sized tree house. She lives with her family and likes omelettes in the morning! Granny Anas lives in a candy house & Granny Tibyan lives in a treehouse. They both grow pumpkins and make pumpkin soup for breakfast.  Granny Firas and Granny Shams grow oranges, apples, mangos and pineapples and they have bread and milk & cookies for breakfast.
