Block 3 Week 2 of Porridge & Play Cranhill Thursday 11th August A huge thank you to all of our grown-ups for sharing your childhood games and songs with us today. Isn’t it amazing how there are so many similar games across different continents?  Folashade came up first to teach us all how to play Tinko Tinko which is a clapping game you can play in pairs. Each player starts with one hand facing up and we move our other hand from the other person's hand back to your own, saying ‘Tinko, Tinko, Tinko’ and then clapping your hands together with your friends. You get faster and faster and faster. Some of you were moving so quickly we could barely see your hands meet! It was amazing.  Razieyh told us about a game called Six Houses. You draw out six boxes on the ground [...]

After sharing our delicious meal together we all had a great big dance and then we grabbed our Flying Balloons and started our adventure. We visited Temi, Tiwani, Fikayo & Folashade’s house first. We went into their kitchen and cooked a giant meal of spicy chicken and rice, luckily they had some yoghurt in the fridge as well so Fatima and Effie could eat the chicken without it burning their tongues! After we’d eaten we all sat together and sang some of their favourite songs - everyone joined in singing ‘wind the bobbin up, wind the bobbin up, pull, pull, clap clap clap’. They told us that they love singing rock and [...]

2022-07-25T09:59:59+00:00

Find out all about our Picnic & Plays with the Bridgeton, Castlemilk and Cranhill Hubs! These blog posts show what we got up to and all the Storyplay-ing we did! Porridge & Play Hubs is running throughout 2022 with this block being the 2nd of our exciting New Scots Integration Project! Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us to provide such amazing experiences for our children & families, and to all our Storyplay Champions! We went on a Canal Boat adventure with the Forth & Clyde Canal Boat Society! The Forth and Clyde Canal Society was formed by a group of canal enthusiasts who felt that the decline in the canals of Scotland in the 1960s had to be reversed. They believe the canals are monuments to our industrial past and that they could be put to use in the future for the benefit of local communities and they could see that the decline in the canals needed to be highlighted to local and national authorities. After the completion of their main goal to have the canals fully reinstated for public use, they continue to support, promote and use the Canal in various ways! We helped support this by chartering a boat and taking a grand adventure which you can read all about in this blog!!  Picnic & Play on a Canal [...]

We got stuck in with our Big as a Bear warm up and our Funky Chicken, and after singing a couple of our favourite songs (Grandma Grandma and Jelly On His Head) it was time to dress up! This week we decided to dress up as Witches! We met so many fascinating Witches at Cranhill Porridge & Play! Fascinating means extremely interesting First there was Rytoy the Silly Witch. Then there was Ninja Witch Amber! She is a very very sneaky Witch, when mum’s not looking she likes to sneak into the kitchen and take biscuits! And she wasn’t the only sneaky witch - we also had Sneaky Witch Bukunmi who likes people to think she is a very very [...]
