We also discovered that everyone had some fabulous new dance moves in Andre’sDance Warm-up and it felt amazing to give our bodies a good stretch! We were so lucky to find lots of new games as it was the children’s turn to teach us! We were all very excited to play Khadar and Yahey’s ‘Monster’ game, which involved everyone finding a place to hide so they don’t get caught by the monster. We started off with a funky Dance Warm Up and showed Andre all our cool moves and then we played The Funky Chicken, Arwa showed us how the Weird Dolphin spins round and round! Freya did the Crazy Koala who likes to side-cuddle her Mum! Avery showed us the Dancing Zebra! This week we found out about all the fabulous games the Castlemilk mums played when they were kids. With the excellent help of our Storyplay Champion Arriann we became investigators so we could interview our Grown Ups and see just what they were like when they were children! Before that of course we warmed up with a Dancing Warm Up! We loved it when Adie came to dance with us for a very special Family Art Voyage! We just love Dancing with Adie. Block 3 Week 1 of Porridge & Play Castlemilk Wednesday 20th July What a lovely afternoon we had for our first session back at Porridge & Play Castlemilk!! Arwa and Hadir are experts in play and showed us by making themselves as BIG as a BEAR!!! We think we could have some future actor pedagogues! We had a lovely session with some wonderful families and we found out all about each of them! Amira told us how hot it was in Egypt and that she had studied Chemistry at University in Cairo and enjoys cooking a traditional dish called Dolma which has cabbage and rice and lots of herbs. The Tall Ship or The Tall Ship Glenlee, was built in 1896. The former merchant sailing vessel will be 125 years old this year, the last remaining 3-masted Clydebuilt ship still afloat in the UK! The mission of the Clyde Maritime Trust is to care for the Glenlee and share the history of ships built on the Clyde for the benefit of all to enjoy and learn through its unique maritime heritage. The Tall Ship is based next to the Riverside Museum, which our Porridge & Play Cranhill and Castlemilk Hubs visited - you can read more about that here! Licketyspit love playing at the Tall Ship! We went on a Canal Boat adventure with the Forth & Clyde Canal Boat Society! The Forth and Clyde Canal Society was formed by a group of canal enthusiasts who felt that the decline in the canals of Scotland in the 1960s had to be reversed. They believe the canals are monuments to our industrial past and that they could be put to use in the future for the benefit of local communities and they could see that the decline in the canals needed to be highlighted to local and national authorities. After the completion of their main goal to have the canals fully reinstated for public use, they continue to support, promote and use the Canal in various ways! The Dream Machine was originally inspired by its founder Matthew Lygate's time living in a healing centre within the Amazonian jungle. There he stumbled onto the power of holistic community healing, music and sound therapy and traditional medicine. Years later at 257 London road Glasgow, the Dream Machine are using creative technologies to provide a unique space where anyone can leave their day-to-day reality at the door without traveling halfway around the world. The Dream Machine has many more voyages ahead and they'd love you to join! We had an incredibly busy Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine with 58 people in February 2020! We went back to one of our favourite places to Storyplay, which is the Riverside Museum! The Riverside Museum is the first purpose-built museum created by Glasgow Life in the 21st century. Located at the junction of the Rivers Kelvin and Clyde, it houses the city’s fabulous transport and technology collections, which have been gathered over the centuries and which reflect the important part Glasgow has played in the world through its contributions to heavy industries like shipbuilding, train manufacturing and engineering. The museum was designed by internationally renowned architect, Dame Zaha Hadid.
