We are sad to announce that all of our family sessions - including Big Porridge & Play Glasgow and Picnic & Play - are now postponed until further notice ☹️ 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦Our play sessions are social gatherings with shared food, dressing up & group play with families from across different communities. Given the current situation, we cannot bring people together in this way. We will be in touch when we can reschedule. 📱Meanwhile we'll be producing increased online resources like the below& email/text communications with cheery activities for families through our  Children & Families Network! Play ideas, stories, games, recipes and more – shared with & between families. Oakwood P4 Storyplay Session 5

Session 5 Wednesday 11th March 2020 We had a fantastically exciting day with the Primary 4 class at Oakwood Primary on Wednesday. After a couple of games (warm up, funky chicken) to warm up our minds and bodies - led by the children - we revisited the stories we had all created in the previous session. Miss Piggy and the Magic Book of Spells The Friendly Painting Tiger Momaka the Monkey and the Speaking Potato! We read the stories aloud first, to remind ourselves of them, passing round the story in the circle so that everyone could read a bit if they wanted to. And what hilarious and interesting stories they are! Then, as a whole class, we leapt into the magic ball and went into the story of 'Miss Piggy and the Magic Book of Spells!' This whole story takes place under water so we took a long time practicing our underwater creatures; moving like octopus, seaweed, dolphins and fish, and making the sounds of whales and seahorses. Iona narrated the story and the whole class acted it out as it went along. We used the big blue silk to swim around on top of and dive underneath! St Martha’s P3/2 Session 2

Tuesday 10th March 2020 Today we had our second Playcard session with P3.2 and it was lots of fun! We met even more animals at the start of our session and everyone had the chance to draw and make up their own animal for The Funky Chicken - there were so many excellent ideas! In our balloons we flew all the way to Nigera and we saw a volcano and lots of mums nearby baking cakes and making snacks. We hosted our first Granny Convention where all of the children dressed up as Grannies and introduced themselves to the rest of the room. There were some very interesting characters. Then the Grannies decided they wanted a trip in the Magic Ball! We arrived somewhere with lots of shops and went into a cafe run by lots of different grannies who all served us lunch. We had pasta, and cake, and ice-cream and coffee. Then Kian led us to a lift that took us all the way to America. as we were exploring we had to hide behind a big rock because suddenly there were Tigers, Zebras and a Panther! We started to back away really slowly but then Shay saw a dinosaur! Luckily he was very friendly - he led us on an adventure but we saw a T-Rex and we all decided to turn into rocks to hide from [...]

Tuesday 10th March 2020 In our third session with Primary One we all created Funky Chicken Animals and got a ride on a Dragon's back to a nearby lake where we went for a swim! We met the Running Zebra,  Nice Tiger, Happy Cat, Silly Giraffe, Friendly Shark and so many other animals - everyone created one! We flew off in our balloons - with suggestions we might see the beach, the jungle, aliens, cats.....! Mrs Reid saw the river and we saw some of our families and pets. Then a dragon flew over and let us climb on his back and we flew to the shores of a lake by a beach. It was an island covered in white flowers! Harry saw some ducks living on the island, Harlow saw crabs. Everyone swam in the lake and we found a statue and a rainbow treasure chest. Darceigh found the key! There were sharks too - eek! We all ate macaroni cheese, ice cream and juice handed out by different children.  Then we made the silk back into a dragon and flew back to school. We dressed up as aliens and astronauts and then turned on all the buttons in the button factory in Hello My Name is Joe. And then we made a delicious cake in Let's Bake a Cake. Full of strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, ice-cream and chocolate! Primary One's [...]

Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine

29th Feb 2020 We had an incredibly busy Picnic & Play at the Dream Machine with 58 people!* However, it was wonderful to introduce so many new families to Lickety Play and have so many people from different backgrounds (over 5 different languages!) meeting and playing confidently and enthusiastically together. In Funky Chicken we met the Quacking Duck Duck, the Cheeky Cheetah,  the Meowing Cat and the Cheaty Minecraft! We saw princesses in towers, purple boats, football stadiums, cars, friends going to college and in the garden from our Flying Balloons and met Granny Ann and Granny Conor, Granny Harley, Granny Maddison and Granny Mohamed in their tree-houses, mansions and houses in the forest of Monster Trees! Hello My Name is Joe was excellent, with lots of laughter! All the food went down well, and we even managed to share a small plate of leftover fruit with The Space's cafe team and visitors. We know some people were a little disappointed not to go into the Dream room itself on Saturday. Unfortunately because of a shortage of staff at the venue, that wasn't possible this time, but there are lots of other free & pay what you can activities on at the Dream Machine! LicketyLeap Session 2 – Revisiting & sharing with families!

4th March 2020 It was great to meet again and talk and remember our journey through the BOG over the SEA into the CAVE and up the MOUNTAIN to find our HEART’S DESIRE! We talked about our Heart’s Desire – whether there was something we’d like most in the world that would make us very happy? You can see the children's answers below. We did the whole LicketyLeap adventure again ourselves this week but this week we just did it with a white blanket and two red berets! We pretended to be Happy Margaret and Worried Margaret popping out from behind the curtain to the music – it was very funny! Then we made the blanket into the bog, the sea, under the sea, the cave, the bear, the bird and the mountain! In the morning Kyra, Tierney and Junior were the Bear and in the afternoon it was Lexi, Dale and Euan. The bears roared but they cried when we shouted ‘Poo Poo Bear!’ and we had to clap them to make them feel better and feed them! Liam, Lujain, Iona and Babecer were the Bird – and spoke Bird! Tuesday 3rd March 2020 We had a fantastic second session with P2 at St Martha’s today! After our fantastic warm up we met the Funky Chicken and Eldana introduced us to the Angry Cat, with Kristian we met the Roaring Dragon, Shapina introduced us to the Happy Unicorn and Brayden showed us all the Rainbow Zebra. We went flying in our balloons and then we learnt some new names for parts of our body the Brain Boxer, Lug Listeners, Chest Wheezer and Knee knockers – can you remember any more? Then we all dressed up as Pirates and met Captain Motaz, Captain Maisie, Captain Miss Gregory and Captain Kara who made sure we scrubbed the deck, and climbed the rigging! Finally we finished with an adventure in the magic ball... We headed off to Spain but it was so hot we needed sunscreen, and sun hats and sun glasses. Dora led us to the shade of a great big tent made of leaves. We ate pizza, and ice-cream then had orange and blackcurrant juice. Then we felt cool enough to explore again, we found some lovely sand – it was an Oasis! We laid down and listened to the sound of water and to the animals all around us. Tuesday 3rd March 2020 We had a wonderful second session of STORYPLAY with Primary 1 where we went to Jamaica in the Magic Ball, Sent a Letter to our loves and learned some unusual new names for the body! In Ickerickeroo we learned some Scots inspired names of the body  - our Brain Boxer, Knee Knockers, Bread Basket and more! We met the Shy dragon unicorn, Silly Dog, Gentle Horse, Funny Dragon & Scared Lion! We met some Pirate captains who go us to run to Port! Starboard! Climb the Rigging and Drink our Grog! Went to outer space again in the Magic Ball! The children passed out space hats & boots. We climbed up a tunnel in a cave to a dragon's lair. Some people didn't want to so hung back with Ruby. Ella became princess and invited everyone to her pink tower castle for a drink of juice! She asked her pet dragon if it would give us a ride. Lots of the children became the dragon and others lots from the dragons back, including an elephant playing under a waterfall, and another, bad dragon! "That was wonderful, so insightful. LicketyLeap at Miltonbank – Group 2

25th February 2020 Miltonbank’s Storyplay Residency started with LicketyLeap for Primary Two. 19 children in two groups leaped into the story with Margaret & Margaret! We journeyed through the BOG over the SEA into the CAVE and up the MOUNTAIN to find our HEART’S DESIRES! It was an amazing adventure! At the end Margaret & Margaret flew away in their balloon and a bundle of postcards fell down from the sky – they were for us - thanking us all for going with them to the top of the mountain & being such brave explorers! The journey took us 90 minutes so there is a lot to tell! We’re hoping parents & carers can come to school this week to see a film of the journey – under the sea, catching fish in Fishy ladies boat & cooking them! Jumping ashore to find fruit trees, rock pool and animals in a hole in the ground! We scrambled up to the cave, we saw the bear and we flew on a giant bird before jumping across a great chasm to the summit and zooming back down. Now we feel we can do anything!
