The CONVENTION of Maryhill Road Chefs was in full swing this week at Community Central Hall…

Incredible Chefs were arriving from all over the world for a sensational display of terrific cooking skills!

People had gathered from far and wide to meet these incredible Chefs and to learn about their wacky creations…

With the power of a Dressing Up Bag – (our bag full of old clothes and imaginings) – our inventive families transformed themselves into characters capable of extraordinary, ordinary and beautiful things!

And today they became very special Chefs – with intriguing cooking specialities….

Violet was Cooking McCookson – who cooks sea monsters to perfection! – delish!

Xiyu was Chef Sheffle – who makes strawberry doughnuts – yum!

Shriyansh was Chef Kippa – who cooks Dinosaur Steaks – wow!

Iris was Chef Strawberry – who makes special strawberry jam with lollipops in it – very special!

Ada was Chef of Delights, a French chef – she adds her Secret Vanilla that she makes herself to all her baking -watch out for what her vanilla may do to you!

Rita was Chef Old – a ghost that can still be seen and can cook – spooky!

Thrishitha became Indian Chef – who specialises in Biryani, Chicken Biryani – funky!

Sparkle Evie Chef puts sprinkles on top of everything that she makes – cunning!

Maya was Chef Coast – who hunts sharks and fries them! – brave!

Arvin was Chef Rush – who makes luxury meals very fast – ideal!

Having all these brilliant chefs together in the same place obviously was perfect for a Big Cook Off BUT, just as the chefs were being ushered into a big kitchen,  a loud cry was heard –

‘Nooooooo! ‘ – everyone stopped in their tracks

‘Please! Please! – begged a very sad looking Chef

 ‘My name is Chef Carne! I’m ever so sad cause I’ve been given the job of baking a special Birthday Cake for a birthday girl

BUT the trouble is I’ve never baked a cake before in my life!

You see I’m a meat chef – Carne means meat, in Spanish!

‘Ooooh, I’m so worried I won’t be able to complete my mission…’

All the Chefs looked at each other with that look that says ‘we could help this poor chap, couldn’t we?’ and then with one voice they said –

‘Come into the kitchen with us!’

So they ushered Chef Carne into the kitchen and we all sat around the great big mixing bowl and the Chefs got to work!!…

What shall we put in first?’

 Chef Kippa – chicken eggs…10 eggs

Chef Rush – Squirty honey and milk

Chef Strawberry – a jar of her special strawberry jam with lollipops inside

Chef Of Delights – her special vanilla that makes everything taste amazing, 20 drops

Chef Mermaid – smelly cheese!

Indian Chef –  chocolate cream!

Chef Sheffle – melted chocolate and flour…

This recipe is a DREAM!

 Even the Commis Chefs,  who are the newest chefs in the kitchen and still learning, were invited to collaborate on this magnificent creation!

Commis Chef Claire added Feathers and Commis Chef Emma some peaches,

 Commis Chef Yachai added lime and Commis Chef Vince hid a gold coin in!

 Then Commis Chef Scott was very precise with the addition of one single spear of asparagus!

 When it was baked the birthday cake got decorated with icing, sprinkles, Oreo and M&Ms and topped off with 8 glorious birthday candles…

And let me tell you, the birthday girl was VERY HAPPY!
