Porridge & Play Whiteinch Week 2
Amazing Animals
Whiteinch Blog!
10th September 2025
Do you know the Funky Chicken? You do? Fantastic!
But what about Shahla’s Excited Snake?
And Zofia’s Dancing Butterfly?
Jie Jie and Nina’s Happy Cats made us purr.
Milad’s Fire Monkey made us hop around.
Amjad’s Flying Bird made us soar.
Franky’s Clumsy Seal made us flop (and laugh!)
Andre found a Letter to My Love
And we took turns to hide and reveal the letter while singing our song!
I sent a letter to my love…
And on the way I dropped it 🎶
When we dressed up, even more animals appeared!
There was Andzelika’s Angry Bear and Aaliyah’s Snow Cat.
Christell was a snake that slithered across the forest floor.
Menna, Lara and Lina became a family of wolves…
And everyone knows the Wolf is the only animal in the forest who owns a watch.
What’s the time Mr Wolf?
Amjad’s Wolf lived in a tree house and had a watch made of metal. He liked eating foxes…
Deon’s 99 Wolf lived in a cave and liked eating people – eek!
Ice Blade and Fire Blade were wolf sisters (Nina & Gaia) who liked to eat cake and scary animals!
Dinner time!
We always got away – phew!
After playing, we ate boiled eggs and cheese and plenty of delicious fruit.
Before we knew it, Sarah was taking us to choose books from the Animal display and we were sitting down to watch the Lickety Art Gallery.
After we saw the brilliant artworks, we made a circle for the Magic Clap and heard some Book Reviews.
Book Reviews
- Christell had read a book called The Sloth.
- Zofia is reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
- And Gaia read The Robot and the Strong Girl.
We can’t wait to hear about the books you took home this time.
The Storyplay Games
All our games are on our Lickety Playcards. You will get your very own pack in week 5 to help you Storyplay at home!
Reflective Drawing
We almost always do ‘Reflective drawing’ at the end of a Storyplay session. It’s nice to relax and draw & think about what we’ve all done & how we feel about it.
Reflective drawing isn’t about doing a ‘good’ drawing – it’s about drawing whatever comes into your head when you think about what you’ve just done.
But as you draw you realise more about what you thought or imagined in the session. And it’s great to share that with everyone & hear what they thought! So many things go on in Storyplay!
Here are some of our Reflective Drawings from this week:
Read some of the artists’ reflections from the Lickety Art Gallery:

This is the letter. This is the clumsy seal and this is the unidentified creature.

A cat walking in the woods when there’s snow and the wolf is there. The wolf is somewhere and we’re all running away!

This is the Funky Chicken. We’re doing the dying fly. Mine was the Flying Bird.

That’s a heart and that’s climbing and that’s a slide. Lina likes to play on this.

This is my letter to my love. It doesn’t say anything. I just draw a love heart. I draw someone dropping the letter. It’s the Up Game. They’re both of my favourite games. I liked the wolf as well.
See you again soon!
