Picnic & Play with our CASTLEMILK HUB!

Our cheery Castlemilk Hub had a cool day out at Loch Lomond shores!

It was warm and the view from the castle at the top of the hill was so irresistible that some of our youngest friends were immediately drawn to it. They sat on the grass and just took in the view – and then rollie- polled and sausage-rolled down the steep hill!

A country park the size of Balloch always brings on the irresistible desire to RUN! All that beautiful green space right there for you to enjoy – the soft rolling hill, the huge, big sky, the tall trees, the big, wide inviting bushes, the intriguing shore of Loch Lomond covered in beautiful pebbles and stones, the water gently moving. Playing outside can be so exciting, and it sure tickles your imagination – you may imagine yourself in an island hiding away from pirates or in a far-away land looking for water dragons!

There were big smiles and even bigger shapes at our Dance Warm Up that of course brought the attention of other visitors – I wonder if they thought they would have a wee happy dance next time they are out visiting somewhere cool!

We also made passers-by stop, listen and smile with our fantastic Funky Chicken animals and we surely had a laugh inventing them!

We had a blast running around the farthest we could downhill away from the Witches in Witches Fingers and pretty everyone had a turn at one of the most considered, focused and hilarious game of I Sent A Letter To My Love!

All that running around in the fresh air made everyone hungry and we set up camp with colourful picnic blankets and got stuck into some tasty food that some washed down with a wee hot chocolate…

 EXPLORING TIME!

Then we had some time to explore around and check out the big play park, the fun zip line and of course the shore!

Our Castlemilk Hub friends were whirlwinds of energy – jumping, zip lining , swinging, climbing, sliding and discovering new ways to play! Sharing with each other. Helping each other out. Even the grown-ups had a go or two!

When it was time to go back up the hill again to our base camp all we could hear was a wee grumble as everyone felt they could have stayed there for at least another day! But we had to head back to Glasgow and after tucking into a wee muffin or two, we load our minibuses and set off.

Some of us couldn’t keep their eyes open after such fun day and had a wee nap, others couldn’t stop chatting and laughing and even had a wee sing song of Letter To My Love.

We got back to Castlemilk happy, tired but refreshed from an absolutely brilliant day out Storyplaying with a sound group of friends – HURRAY!

Taz, Sarah, Andre and the Castlemilk Hub pals.
