Over The Children’s Wood we flew - Up, up, up with our Flying Balloons! We saw a boat going along, we saw small trees, we saw a big dark sea monster and a rainbow snake with a lollipop!   The Children’s Wood truly is a favourite spot for us at Licketyspit and we LOVED our Forest Storyplay sessions this October Holiday Week! On Tuesday families came from our Bridgeton Hub and Cranhill Hub for a day of play, friends, food and nature - what a hoot!  We danced, played Funky Chicken and had a brilliant Flying Balloons adventure. We all became Rainbow Snakes using our brilliant technique for Dressing Up - in old any old clothes we can wear in such fabulous ways that we can be anyone and anything we can imagine! While we made ourselves as dapper as cool Rainbow Snakes this Mean Woman suddenly appeared shouting at us all asking - ‘Are you all here for the Rainbow Snake audition? Are you?! Hurry up we don’t have all day!’ Suddenly we found ourselves auditioning for this Mean Woman and her Photographer assistant! ‘You, you and you! Step forward! Bridgeton Blog! 3rd October 2025 For our last Bridgeton Porridge & Play we thought we better bake a cake! With Chef Santa’s chicken, Suliman & Mohsin’s chips Niamate’s sprinkles and Maab’s jellyfish! Chef Phillipe from France and Chef Pirate from India, joined many more with their ingredients. Seena and Evanna brought strawberries and Chef Scary brought buns. Chef Duaa brought ice cream that tasted like bubblegum.  Amira added strawberry sauce and Mariam rainbow lolly pops. There was bubblegum, coconut, eggs and dragon fruit. Then lettuce and pizza and Chef Samira’s cream. We stirred them all in and it turned out a dream. Burger with Nutella - we had to try it! Chicken Nuggets? there’s never been a cake like it! I wonder if vanilla will cover these up… Chef Ouff’s smelly shoes and belly button fluff  And Moira’s ear wax - would the Ogre like the cake? Chef Alan had a brilliant idea!  Let’s add sleepy leaves to put him to sleep! The Ogre appeared with a terrible roar - we cut him some cake then gave him some more. Castlemilk Blog! 2nd October 2025 Do you know Porridge & Play Castlemilk? What did you say? Each week we meet to Storyplay! Games and rhymes and songs and books Click the links and have a look! This week we played Let’s Bake a Cake with Bakers from all over the place. There was Baker Bella and Baker Beans. Baker Naughty Cookies and Baker Mushroom. 
Baker Silly Billy Shake Bake and Baker Pumpkin pie. And many other bakers besides! What a cake these bakers made, with skeletons, worms and pancakes. Strawberry donuts and chocolate too, bubblegum, pink rabbits and ducks and white paint. Lava rocks gave the cake a crunch. We cut a slice and had a munch! What an imaginative cake indeed. This week we also had time to read. We read a book about a king who baked and cooked like anything! Inside each book there’s a whole world to explore, you could go there in the Magic Ball! Keep reading and Storyplaying while we’re gone. But we’ll be back before too long! Next time Porridge & Play Castlemilk will be back next year. Whiteinch Blog! 1st October 2025 Hey hey who goes there, I’m Big as a Bear and as Fast as a Hare! Hey hey what do you see? The Funky Chicken and he loves to read! The Sleeping Cat and the Tired Pig who went for a nap instead of a jig. The Happy Pink Bunny and the one that Jumped all came to play in the circle with us. Hip hop let’s DRESS UP! Scarves become tails become snakes for fun! Hip hop let’s DRESS UP! Skirts become capes become aprons for fun! Giovanna the Chef needs our help to make a cake. What ingredients will we need…poisonous EYES were suggested by Nina! Custard and jelly and creme caramel, so yummy and sweet from Aaliyah, Mihije and Christell. Sweet popcorn and golden mushrooms that tasted like popcorn, and blueberry gaming ones from Deon. Gaia’s lasagne and Zofia’s raw fish, made for a most unusual dish. Andzelika’s Jellyfish brought more of the sea. There was Menna’s grated carrot and Ibraheem’s broccoli and cheese. Flour, water and egg were provided by Virginia, Ruby and Jie Jie Lin. Castlemilk Blog! 25th September 2025 We’re off, we’re off to play outside! Behind a great big tree we’ll hide From sharks that move beneath the waves Under the trees we’ll laugh and play! Out the library, past a bus, over the crossing, cars wait for us Up the hill and into the woods Where looking down from our balloons… We saw a giant marshmallow! A birthday cake – let’s have a slice! Does it taste yucky or does it taste nice? Nice like Granny’s cotton candy! Some Grannies like to make lasagne. Granny Soup is really kind and Granny Cloud she pays no mind To those pesky trees that seem to move A little closer through the woods. But one Granny makes poison soup So watch out Trees, don’t get too close! Back to the library to snack and draw We love the woods, let’s go there more! Whiteinch Blog! 25th September 2025 This Wednesday was a sunny day, so we thought we’d go outside to play! First we played the Funky Chicken, the Happy Tiger Bunny, the Grumpy Kitten! We danced and sang as we set off, sticking together with all our stuff. Through the tunnel and up the stairs, past the pond we walked in pairs. Into the park and in a circle. We picked up balloons – black, pink, blue, purple! High in the sky we flew to see some jumping fish down in the sea! They were having so much fun, we flew down too to swim in the sun. Ah, into the waves we went and yet that’s not where our story ends. A hot air balloon took us up to the trees and what could we see? A castle made of diamonds and gold “I know” said Gaia “Let’s use these backpack balloons to fly over!” The Queen of the Castle was Princess Nina who gave us snacks from her golden fridge and golden bicycles to get home in. Golden blueberries and diamond gifts. What a generous princess she is! Bridgeton Blog! 26th September 2025 This was the week of Monster's Footsteps and the Sea! The Present Game We started off with the present game, where we created imaginary gifts for each other like turtles and flowers! Then we had a dance! Flying Balloons 1, 2, 3...off we go!! We picked up our balloons for another adventure. High in the sky we flew. Howida and Salah saw green snakes down below and monkeys in the sky! Leeanne saw the River Clyde! What was in the river? Could it be a pirate ship? Or what about an ice cream shop? WHOOSH! We swooped down for an ice cream. Lin had chocolate and Lexi had nutella, but Maab had egg flavour! How funny! We were all a bit sticky from the ice cream, so Andre suggested we fly back down for a swim. SPLASH! Into the water we went, watching out for sharks. Mariam found some stars and golden money so we all started digging for treasure.  Leeanne found a green emerald. But oh no - the shark was back! Maybe it was guarding the treasure? Swim for your lives! PHEW! We got away and found ourselves on a beach. Bridgeton Blog! 19th September 2025 This was the week of Witches, Mucky Brew and our second Magic Ball adventure!! Dancing Warm Up We began with a Dancing Warm Up! Everyone shared their best moves. Funky Chicken Then we met some awesome animals! These in included: Howida's Funny Cat  Lin's Angry Bunny  Salah's Excited Tiger  Moira's Cheeky Crocodile! Mucky Brew Mucky ME Mucky YOU Mucky mucky mucky BREW! This was a fruity brew. We poured, sprinkled and rubbed all sorts of funny things on our head! A big watermelon A big pineapple Chopped apple A big egg A big kiwi A booger (yuck!) A chocolate cake Grapes A pomegranate Witch's Fingers! I'm going to drink...a bottle of....POISON! We ran away from those tricksy witches as quick as we could! Magic Ball Then one of the magical witches found the Magic Ball. It took us to MUDLAND! We got stuck in the mud. We couldn't get out! Castlemilk Blog! 18th September 2025 Funky Chicken This week we turned into wonderful witches and other magical creatures! But not before playing Funky Chicken! We met Charlie's Slow Sloth and Sayeda's Angry Cat. Muhammed's Happy Horse and Nicola's Snappy Crocodile. Bassie's Wild Rat and Max's Depressed Gorilla. Ramisa's Grumpy Cat and Anusha's Angry Donkey! Witches Fingers Ha ha ha ha ha! I am a witch! And I'm going to drink a bottle of... Water!  Pineapple! Mud! Cheese! POISON!! We had Abu Witch and Muhammed Witch, Anusha Witch and Claire Witch...Sarah Witch and many more witches besides! Mucky Brew These witches decided to make a Mucky Brew filled with all sorts of yummy and yucky things. Flour and rotten eggs Dinosaur's blood and gloop Mud and chocolate! Magic Ball Just then we found the Magic Ball.... Magic Ball, Magic Ball Take us where we want to go! A Woodland Adventure The Magic Ball took us to the woods. Where the bears live! We fed the bears potatoes. Not the poison potatoes! Once they were full, the bears took us to the elves! We met an elf who was making a cake. We helped the elf bake the cake and got to try some. Whiteinch Blog! 17th September 2025 I'm going to drink a bottle of... Pomegranate! Pineapple! Grass! Toenails! POISON!! This week we dressed up as magical creatures and played Witches Fingers. Mucky Brew Feeling witchy, we then made a Mucky Brew with Orange juice Tea Apple Slime Sticky wrappers Baby mice Cheese for the mice Sand and some of Branch’s hair for good measure! We were so sticky and mucky we had to have a quick shower and dry off. But then! Sarah found the Magic Ball. Magic Ball It took us to America where we bought hot dogs from a vendor and helped him make more. They were such funny flavours - chocolate and cheese! We found a red octopus and a pool of freezing water. Ruby was a bit scared to go into the water but everyone helped her. So we released the octopus back into the ocean and had a swim with it!
