Govan Blog! Witches, potions & a Magic Ball adventure!!! The sun was shining in Govan today and our lovely space for Porridge & Play was full of sun rays! Storyplay began with a warmup that is also a story full of action! Have you heard about Joe who works in a buttons factory? He has a wife and three kids, and his boss is very demanding… We all got involved with ‘Hello! My name is Joe’ and got warmed up and ready to imagine! We all needed to get ready to attend a very important event…a Witch Convention. So, we transformed into the most fabulous witches with our very own way of dressing up: using old clothes and turning them into all sorts of fantastic bits to create our own character! The Witch Convention was compered by Witchy Tail Hair and her assistant Witchy Such & Such and they went around meeting and greeting all the other witches and they even interviewed a few! Whiteinch Blog! A Witchy Porridge & Storyplay afternoon at Whiteinch Library! Whiteinch Library felt very witchy today as the brilliant librarians had selected a bunch of books for us about magic, fanatic creatures, werewolves, vampires, monsters and of course witches! Before we kicked off our Storyplay, Andre told us about Fred, Grace, John and Bella Spears who are all characters in the brilliant song ‘Jelly On His Head’ and then for our warm up today we gave ‘Hello! My Name is Joe’ a go! We all felt how poor Joe must feel after a long day of work at the Button Factory! Since mystery and magic was in the air we all dressed up as Witches and attended a mad Witches Convention where a crew from Witchy TV was interviewing those in attendance. Amir became Oversized Witch and told the interviewer that his favourite potion is a powerful one but it’s recipe is a secret… Shhhh! Porridge & Play Castlemilk Week 2

Castlemilk Blog! The sun was shining in the windows of Castlemilk Library and because most of us arrived early we had so much time for Storyplay! That's the way we like it! Woo hoo! Everyone is really getting great at imagining they can be anyone, do anything and go anywhere! It’s so fantastic hearing all your great ideas and meeting all your amazing characters in the games! Andre led a wonderful Dancing Warm-Up before we met the Extraordinary Elephant, the Happy Cow, the Furry Dog, the Happy Butterfly, the Happy Monkey, the Happy Giraffe, the Angry Tiger, the Happy Dog, the Cute Kitten, the Angry Gorilla and of course - uh oh! The Dying Fly! Then we dressed up as Forest Creatures! Poppy was Dotty The Cheetah, Ingrid a White Eagle, Jese became a Lion and Avery was a Squirrel. There was Mel's Green Dragonfly, Susie's Green Snake, Jessica introduced us to Moffat the butterfly and Claire was a Fox (with a big foxy tail!). Whiteinch Blog! We did our Dancing Warm-up to start the session and then we met fantastic Funky Chicken animals like Aaliyah's Silly Spider; Katie's Hopping Horse, Nina's Evil Cat, Mohammad's Angry Dinosaur and Sara's Sad Dog! We all dressed up as Forest Creatures! Sara was a bat, Muhammad was a lion, Katie was a panther, Marie was a special ladybird! Amjad was a tree, Oleg was a mushroom! and Freya was a forest princess! What a hoot! Now in this forest we discovered there were lots of Wolves! There was Nico Flower who lives underground with 3 Wolfy Cubs! There was Wolfy Bad-Tree who stands up in a tree! Wolfy Muhammad lives in the ground by himself, Wolfy Amjad (a were-wolf!) lives in a mansion, Wolf Berry lives in a shop selling food and Wolves Freya and Milad live in houses! The only Forest Creatures who know the time are the Wolves - because they all have a wonderful watch! Wolfy Bad-Tree got his from the garbage! Wolfy Nina got hers in a very expensive shop, Wolfy Mohammad has a Rolex , Wolf Berry's watch is silver and Wolf Cole has an amazing gold and black watch! Govan Blog! We had a lovely Porridge & Play this week with Sarah, Cami and with Paul Chaal. Paul is a Glaswegian whose Mum and Dad came to Scotland from India when they were teenagers. So although Paul was born here he can speak Urdu, Hindi & Punjabi as well as English, which was very handy for this Govan session! Paul started Porridge & Play today by leading us in a wonderful Dancing WarmUp before we did the Funky Chicken - and what animals we met!!! Shamaila introduced us to the Hungry Pigeon, Safa showed us the Silly Fish, Sumaira brought the Neigh Horse and Ariana the Meow Cat! Then we all dressed up as Forest Creatures! Arianna was a Furry Fox, Shazia was a Roaring Lion and Noureen was a Wolf AND we had Hania as a Granny and Firas as a tree! Now in this forest the Wolf was the only animal who had a watch! So all the other creatures could only find out what the time was by asking Mr Wolf BUT!!! They had to be very careful to try not to ask him when its DINNER TIME!!!! So with the Licketyspit actor-pedagogues, Sarah, Andre, Steven & Virginia we were 26 - a good number for a circle where You can see Everyone & Everyone can see you, in Castlemilk Library! Andre led our warm-up we were: To warm up we made ourselves as - Big as a Bear & as Fast as a Hare. As strong as an Ox & as Sneaky as a Fox, As soft as a Cat & As Nibbly as a Rat! Fly high as a Bird, Flying Up, Flying Down, Swooping, Gliding, Round & Round, Till you land on your Nest! have a little Rest! what’s this I have found? It’s hard & it’s round… it’s an EGG! Whiteinch Blog! It was fantastic to be back in the Library again with Porridge & Play Whiteinch. We had a great group of families with 20 children, 13 grownups plus the Licketyspit actor- pedagogues - Cami, Andre, Steven & Virginia - so we got off to a flying start! And course we had Kevan the Librarian to welcome us all. To warm up we made ourselves as - Big as a Bear & as Fast as a Hare. As strong as an Ox & as Sneaky as a Fox, As soft as a Cat & As Nibbly as a Rat! Porridge & Play Govan Week 1

Govan Blog! We had a wonderful start to Govan Porridge & Play 2024! Such a great group of families old and new! 18 children with 9 Mums & a grandmother. Sarah led a Dancing Warm-Up while we waited for everyone to arrive (please try to come by 4pm next week so we can all have as much Storyplay as possible!). Steven led us in the Big as a Bear Warm-Up before we played Funky Chicken and met lots of marvelous and hilarious characters from the Funny cat to the Yellow giraffe! Cami invited us to blow up our many coloured balloons and float up high into the sky over Govan! We were so high that the trees looked like broccoli and the people looked like ants and the river Clyde looked like a shining snake slithering across Glasgow! We saw birds and fish and boats and dynausaurs and some pirates cooking fish on their boat! It smelled so delicious that we flew down to eat some before the Naughty Seagull POPPED our balloons and we fell back to the ground! We blew up another balloon and up we went again, so high in the sky that now Scotland looked like a wee bit of lego and we could fly over the whole world - the sea, forests, deserts, the North Pole, the Great Wall of China [...]

Storyplay Festival 2024!

Find out what we all got up to at the Storyplay Festival 2024 at the Children's Wood! Saturday 13th July Sunshine, Storyplay & a Family of Families! Our second ever Storyplay Festival was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came. It was a beautiful day and didn’t rain until the festival ended – lucky us! In the morning, the Licketyspit team met at the Children’s Wood and quickly set-up for the festival. It took a lot of effort, but it was so worth it! Not long after we set up, we had the pleasure to welcome families from Bridgeton, Castlemilk, Cranhill, Maryhill & Govan as well as our families who join us for Licketyspit Online! We hosted over 125 people who all have one thing in common - they all love Storyplay! The families arrived and we created an enormous circle and got started! To warm-up, we did the biggest ‘Big As A Bear’ I’ve ever seen! But we weren’t warm enough because then we did a massive Dancing Warm-up! The energy was high and so before we split up, we sang ‘Ickerickeroo’. After some Storyplay as a huge group, we blew up our balloons and flew to our hub dens. Find out what the Castlemilk & Whiteinch Group did during our Picnic & Play session at the Children's Wood! Wednesday 10th July Last Picnic & Play of the season with our Castlemilk & Whiteinch Friends! One last Picnic & Play at the Meadow & Children’s Wood with families from Castlemilk and families from Whiteinch before we all meet again at Licketyspit’s Storyplay Festival on Saturday! Whoohoo! Everyone was up for a good time outdoors!. We had shelter in case it rained, nice food to share and a bunch of friends to play with so the perfect ingredients for a perfect Picnic & Play time. Virginia told us all about Licketyspit’s Storyplay Festival happening this Saturday from 12pm. Many Licketyspit families from all over Glasgow will come along and gather for a full day of fun. Families from Govan, Maryhill, Cranhill, Bridgeton and families who play with Licketyspit online will join Castlemilk and Whiteinch families and at the woods they will have their very own spots or DENS where they’ll be able to share their favourites games and invite guests at the Festival to take a look at images of what they have been up to during their Licketyspit sessions!
