LicketyLeap at St Mary’s – Group 4

2021-06-15T13:52:40+00:00

12th & 18th September 2019 St Marys Storyplay We had a lovely LicketyLeap with 9 children from Group 4 (P1a & P1b) and Miss Carty. They were particularly tickled by the Margaret & Margaret Peekaboo entrance. They loved the Oogly Boogly Lady's mini-worlds and were all actively involved. The children independently found lots of things under the Sea. On the Boat we had a lovely sleep - suggested by one of the children! On the Shore we saw crabs, seahorses and everyone was so focused on the burrow when the rabbits came out. T - "My bunny kissed me!" They loved finding their hats. L told Bold Margaret about the Bear and was very chatty. "He was scary and then scared!" T was the first confidently in their to pat the Bear. M asked the Bird for a lift up the mountain and M and F both enjoyed the fact that they "spoke Bird". A huge group of nearly all the children helped Bold Margaret jump to the Top. At the end, L explained what had happened to Worried Margaret exactly - "She was worried then she was brave!" "[I drew] the wind, the grass, the sky, the balloon, the snow all come down and the big rainfall and the river. At the end was my best bit." Child, Reflective Drawing In Session 2, we revisited the story and [...]

2019-09-25T12:15:03+00:00

25th September 2019 We are delighted to announce that Picnic & Play is back! Licketyspit's Picnic & Play sessions are free inter-generational drama-led play sessions for families with 3-8 year olds, in cultural centres around Glasgow and Edinburgh. Sessions include a delicious, healthy picnic and reflective drawing, where participants can share their thoughts and opinions about the games, rhymes, songs and imaginary play activities. Picnic & Play is a Licketyspit Children & Families Network (CFN) project which aims to bring families with experience of the Lickety Playcard games together to play and explore new parts of their city. Partner venues - like museums, galleries and parks - introduce participating families to their activities, and Licketyspit creates trails, games and play ideas to help families explore the venues after the family play session. Picnic & Play is made possible thanks to Awards for All funding from the National Lottery. Priority is given to members of the CFN when allocating places, and to families from our Storyplay Schools. We’ve moved!

2019-08-30T11:07:01+00:00

Licketyspit has moved to Glasgow! 30th August Earlier this month, Licketyspit moved into a new office at Community Central Hall, 292-316 Maryhill Road, Glasgow. This is a very exciting move, with the company now based a stone's throw away from one of our Storyplay Schools, St Mary's R.C. Primary, Maryhill, and one of our Big Porridge & Play communities, Ruchill! With the majority of our work now being delivered in Glasgow, we decided it made sense for the company to move west. We had a lovely send off from our old office at North Edinburgh Arts, and hope to be back soon with some more drama-led play sessions. We remain committed to delivering our work in Muirhouse and north Edinburgh, and indeed across whole Edinburgh, for our Children & Families Network members.

Storyplay is Back at St Mary’s Primary!

2020-01-31T17:22:40+00:00

26th August 2019 We are very excited to be coming back to St Mary's R.C. Primary in Maryhill next month for another Storyplay Schools residency! Ruby, one of our lead actor-pedagogues, will be in this week to meet with the Primary One teachers ahead of LicketyLeap starting on September 11th, with our artistic director Virginia, and lead actor-pedagogue Taz. Every child in Primary One will take part in LicketyLeap and parents and carers will be getting a letter about this unique immersive theatre experience soon. Parents and carers will also be invited to attend Session 2 of LicketyLeap with your child(ren), on September 17th, 18th or 19th in the morning or afternoon. Your child's teacher will let you know which day to come. The LicketyLeap experience can have a very positive impact on your child's learning and development and it is really great for them if you can share the experience with them in Session 2, so we really hope you can come. To find out more about Storyplay, click here, and visit the St Mary's Storyplay page to see what we did last year, and find photos and drawings from Storyplay at St Mary's. We'll also be doing Playcard Play and Porridge & Play later this year. Parents and carers are warmly invited to take part in Porridge & Play so look out for a letter home inviting you [...]
