They joined us on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday for the most brilliant and exciting workshops where we learnt a Kpanlogo drumming rhythm, some Ghanaian dancing and the ‘Sugar & Butter’ song! Thomas and Adie had great big Djembe drums from Ghana, but they told us that to learn drumming all you need is a mixing bowl or cooking pot from your kitchen! Everyone made brilliant drums from bowls, Tupperware boxes, and even great big yoghurt pots! Thomas showed us how to hold our bowls between our knees and which parts of our hands to use to make different sounds. Then we learnt a Kpanlogo’ rhythm which went along with these words: ‘LET’S ALL PLAY THE DRUM, LET’S PLAY THE DRUM!’ We them learnt a whole dance routine [...]

Whiteinch Blog! Love letters, Chefs, a massive birthday cake & a feast! Our last session at Whiteinch Library felt like a great big party and although everyone was a bit sad that it was the last one of this year we all cheered up very quickly with a Dancing Warm up. We feel so lucky that you have all shared your incredible ideas with us! After a brilliant dance warm up we were feeling all lovely so…we decided to send Letters to our Loves! Porridge & Play Castlemilk Week 3

2024-09-20T10:40:07+00:00

Castlemilk Blog! Do you know why circles are great? Because when we are all in a circle, you can see everyone and everyone can see you and playing is best when we all do it TOGETHER! We had a great big circle yesterday at Castlemilk Library as there were many of us ready to Storyplay at Porridge & Play! We got our bodies, and our imaginations warmed up with ‘Hello My Name is Joe’, a fun rhyme that makes you move your body in ways you may not have done before! And as our cool librarians had selected some spooky themed books for us to take out this week we decided to have a game of Dressing Up that fitted the theme… so…we became WITCHES at a Witches Convention! A couple of journalist Witches were there reporting on the Witchy World so we got to find out many things like witches’ names, their means of transport and their favourite food from the Witchy Buffet at the Convention: Witchy Maria arrived on top of someone’s car and likes pizza! Whichy White Coat came on a broom and likes chocolate cake! Susanna was the Wicked Witch of The Milk and likes squashed frogs and came on a mop! Abu was Spider Witch, came on a rainbow flying carpet and likes frogs! Mystery Witch likes lizards! Witchy Fraser came [...]

2024-09-20T10:11:48+00:00

Govan Blog! Witches, potions & a Magic Ball adventure!!! The sun was shining in Govan today and our lovely space for Porridge & Play was full of sun rays! Storyplay began with a warmup that is also a story full of action! Have you heard about Joe who works in a buttons factory? He has a wife and three kids, and his boss is very demanding… We all got involved with ‘Hello! My name is Joe’ and got warmed up and ready to imagine! We all needed to get ready to attend a very important event…a Witch Convention. So, we transformed into the most fabulous witches with our very own way of dressing up: using old clothes and turning them into all sorts of fantastic bits to create our own character! The Witch Convention was compered by Witchy Tail Hair and her assistant Witchy Such & Such and they went around meeting and greeting all the other witches and they even interviewed a few! Witchy Mohammad lives in the sky and is magic! Watch out. Witchy Like Mohammad lives where Mohammad lives and he tricks people with their shoes… he he he! Witchy Evangelina lives in the sky where it’s very fluffy and comfortable. She loves sunny side up eggs and makes cloud potions. Yum! Witchy Safa lives in a castle pink with slime. Her favourite [...]

Porridge & Play Whiteinch Week 3

2024-09-20T10:08:34+00:00

Whiteinch Blog! A Witchy Porridge & Storyplay afternoon at Whiteinch Library! Whiteinch Library felt very witchy today as the brilliant librarians had selected a bunch of books for us about magic, fanatic creatures, werewolves, vampires, monsters and of course witches! Before we kicked off our Storyplay, Andre told us about Fred, Grace, John and Bella Spears who are all characters in the brilliant song ‘Jelly On His Head’ and then for our warm up today we gave ‘Hello! My Name is Joe’ a go! We all felt how poor Joe must feel after a long day of work at the Button Factory! Since mystery and magic was in the air we all dressed up as Witches and attended a mad Witches Convention where a crew from Witchy TV was interviewing those in attendance. Amir became Oversized Witch and told the interviewer that his favourite potion is a powerful one but it’s recipe is a secret… Shhhh! Nico became Witchy Lila and explained that she lives in a giant castle with animals and witches. Her fave potion is the Sword Potion which makes you fall sleep for 1 night and when you wake up you turn into a melon. He he he! Sofia became Sassy Witch and her favourite potion turns people into a giant nose! Achoo! And Witchy Andre taught every other Witch how to make [...]
