(Emmanuel) sugar and butter! ‘LET’S ALL PLAY THE DRUM, LET’S PLAY THE DRUM!’ We had such a FANTASTIC time at last week’s sessions with Thomas and Adie. They joined us on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday for the most brilliant and exciting workshops where we learnt a Kpanlogo drumming rhythm, some Ghanaian dancing and the ‘Sugar & Butter’ song! Thomas and Adie had great big Djembe drums from Ghana, but they told us that to learn drumming all you need is a mixing bowl or cooking pot from your kitchen! Everyone made brilliant drums from bowls, Tupperware boxes, and even great big yoghurt pots! Thomas showed us how to hold our bowls between our knees and which parts of our hands to use to make different sounds. Then we learnt a Kpanlogo’ rhythm which went along with these words: ‘LET’S ALL PLAY THE DRUM, LET’S PLAY THE DRUM!’ We them learnt a whole dance routine [...]

LicketyMOVERS

2024-03-05T08:03:27+00:00

LicketyMOVERS are movement play sessions where younger children and their grown-ups get together to move, dance, play, relax and enjoy quality time. Does your 2–5-year-old child enjoy running, dancing, hopping, climbing, rolling on the floor, laughing, pushing, pulling, flying or going upside down even? Well, LICKETYMOVERS is for YOU BOTH! All you need is comfy clothes and your fantastic selves. LicketyMOVERS sessions are 45 min of high energy and fun movement led play for children ages 2-5 and their grown-ups. LicketyMOVERS promotes child & grown up well-being, physical and mental health and stimulates child development. Children learn about self-reliance and develop an independent spirit while enhancing their motor skills and self-confidence. Blogs are great ways for us to share what we did together at our sessions.  They can be read like bed time stories, cut up & made into mini magazines we like to call zines, or, they can be sent to friends & family far & wide! Watch this space!
