Everyone's welcome, and we'd love to see you! Saying goodbye in Govan, Milton and Easterhouse Monday 29 June After six fantastic weeks of play, last week we said goodbye for now to our new friends in three different regions of Glasgow. It's amazing what can happen over just six weeks. We 'met' once a week - this being a digital meeting, or course, due to the lockdown situation which has forced us all inside. And yet, very, very quickly, we were having new adventures together, thanks to the power of our imaginations, and making new friends so we didn't feel so alone. No special effects or expensive equipment required - we had everything we needed in our own heads. Being around other children and making new pals was the perfect way to unlock it! During what become a very special couple of hours for all of us to look forward to each week, we did energetic warm-ups to get us all [...]

We could feel the love on arrival when we the posse got together - there was a sense of anticipation that made us all very excited! We kicked off with a Mucky Brew packed with spaghetti in tomato sauce, sugar, milk and treacle! Sticky, gooey and delicious. Along came the Washing Song, and we were again nice and clean and giddy and ready to say hi to the Funky Chicken and friends! We met the silly crocodile and the funky crocodile, the angry seagull, the funky lion... There was even a cheeky dinosaur! After that, I shared a little secret that was not a secret at all...I LOVE my cat, Errol Flynn! AND I’d written a love letter to him to tell him how much I love him! And, as love is wonderful and easy to share, we all [...]

Week 3: Pirate Captains & Magic Ball!

2021-07-02T09:45:50+00:00

Big Porridge & Play Blog 8th June 2020 Govan - Tuesday 2nd June 2020 The Govan posse got together yesterday for a bit of hang out and a lot of PLAY! We talked about how much everyone likes dressing up with just any old stuff or ordinary things we may have around...I tied a t-shirt around my head and a scarf around my forehead and just like that I turn into Pirate Captain Taz!! I had the most fierce bunch of misfits for a crew and I ordered them about for bit he he...Then we had Captain Priyangaa and Captain Muhammed and Captains Erin and Ethan and Captains George, Lazare and Tomass too!! All of the captains were rather grumpy and bossed us about rather a lot to scrub the deck, ride a shark and go and find treasure! We got into the Magic Ball and landed in a Cheese world where we all tried the cheese which tasted like all sorts of other things like grapes! We found a hole and crawled through it and then met a cheese creature who gave us special cheese. After that we ended up in the North pole where it was very cold. Ethan provided us with a match and we had a wee fire to warm up. We spotted an igloo and wondered about whose home that was. [...]

Big Porridge & Play Blog 1st June 2020 Govan – Tuesday 26th May 2020 FUN FUN FUN!!! Great play session last week!! We had a wee chat about our weekends while we were getting all connected to Zoom and Bob told us about his garden and his plants and we discovered that Ethan, Erin and Leah spent their weekend doing Discos at home! Funky Chicken was full of great animals: a Flashy Cheetah, a Silly Dog, a Funky Snake, a Silly Panda and a Dying Fly all made an appearance! What a Zoo! We blew up our Balloons and met up in the sky! As we flew above our dear Green Place Glasgow we got higher and higher and we could see the whole wide world andd elephants in Zimbawe drinking water with their trunks, lions trying to eat us and pop our balloons, Antartica, a giant blue eagle and Jia Chen got stuck in a tornado and we had to rescue him! ‘The Himalayas looked like chocolate and whipped cream’ said Priyangaa and I thought they were a piece of cake! To finish we all did drawings and had The Licketyspit Art Gallery where everyone is an artist and we shared and admired our artwork inspired on our Big Porridge & Play adventures! MORE NEXT WEEK!!! See yous all there!! 😎👋🎈🤸‍♂️😊🌈😉🤩 By Taz GOVAN [...]

Week 1: Meeting & Flying Balloons across the Sky!

2022-02-23T17:13:33+00:00

Big Porridge & Play Blog 22nd May 2020 Govan - Tuesday 19th May 2020 Hiya everyone! What fun we had yesterday, right? Jack, Iona, Ruby & myself were so excited to welcome all our new families from Govan. And it was so great to have so many of yous joining our play session! It was a fun to work out everyone's names and trying to organise that on the funny Zoom boxes! But we managed and we got ready to have a good warm up to wake up our bodies and our minds! We played Funky Chicken and some fabulous animals made an appearance: the Big Fluffy Tiger, the Flying Butterfly, the Funny Kangaroo... And because when we play with your imagination you can be anyone, go anywhere and do ANYTHING, we had a game of MUCKY BREW and we threw all sorts of things all over us: honey, feathers, runny chocolate, a giant egg, water, slime...even bits of a broken TV! But it was fine cause we had a wash while we sang our Washing Song. We flew over Glasgow on our Flying Balloons and we saw a silvery snake that turn out to be the River Clyde! And we saw a purple whale and an angry bird that became a happy bird cause we blew it a kiss. We saw the schools empty of [...]
