22nd April 2022 We are looking for volunteers to take part in our intergenerational Storyplay sessions across a range of projects. Our play sessions mainly take place on Wednesdays (2.30-6.30), Thursdays (3-7), Fridays (3-7), Saturdays (10-4). Dates for induction training are - 24th May (6-7.30) - 25th May (11-1) drop in for 1-to-1 chats - 21st June (4-5.30) You must attend at least 1 training session. If you can attend all 3 sessions you'll develop your skills further, on the road to becoming a Storyplay Champion! We aim to be as flexible as we can to accommodate our volunteer's availability and circumstances. You can tell us more about your availability when you sign up or get in touch if you'd like to have a chat. If you have children and would like to volunteer with us - we'd love to hear from you. We can work out an arrangement suitable to your needs, every family is different. You will receive Storyplay Training - learn to use the Storyplay toolkit of games, rhymes, songs and imaginary play activities and the methodology of how we play Experience working with diverse groups of families including refugees and asylum seeking families, in communities across Glasgow Understanding and experience of how Licketyspit engages online and in person, logistical know-how of running successful large group play activities Storyplay resources Experience preparing and serving community meals Experience [...]

We were all like one big family! Moira & Leeanne asked us, ‘What are we gonna do for the next two weeks?!’ since we will be having a two week break for the holidays!  So we whipped out our Storyplay packs with our Playcards, crayons and notebooks for Reflective Drawing at home! We also had lots of fun information and game sheets to bring some of the magic we have at Porridge & Play home with you this break. Thursday 31st March What a great session to take us into the Easter holidays! We had such an incredible adventure in the Magic Ball which has gave so many ideas of exciting things you can do, places you can visit, and people you could meet using your imagination over the holidays. We started off by Dressing Up as adventurers and then Effie found the Magic Ball in her pocket and we knew it was time to go exploring. Wednesday 30th March Licketyspit & our Castlemilk pals got together once again at Castlemilk Community Centre on the last Wednesday before the Easter holidays. We sat around the table tucking into our beautiful food and we welcomed a new family Yang, Li, Celine & Lewis who joined in with lovely smiles, ready for some Porridge & Play! ‘I am a witch! HAHAHAHA!’ The witchy cackles could be heard all over Castlemilk! Anita was a very cheery witch & Catherine the Witch tickled Taz to the ground when she got her!! Blog posts are written by André! Week 3 of Bridgeton Porridge & Play Friday 25th March We loved seeing everyone once again for our Bridgeton Porridge and Play session on Friday 25th March! It was a beautifully sunny day so we played outside in the sun. Outside play is so important for our development, we learn and grow so much when we play outside together. Some of our favourite games made an appearance this week. We started off being as BIG as a BEAR! We then met the Funky Chicken and some amazingly fun animals! Soon we met Fred who had Jelly on his Head! We all got together for some Dessing Up, we love Dressing Up at Licketyspit! We can create creative and fun costumes from just the clothes we have laying around our own homes. Maybe you could do some dressing up in the Easter Holidays? Thursday 24th March What an exciting session!  After our usual warm up we decided it was time to dress up and this week we all became Grannies! We had scary grannies, funny grannies, nice grannies, hungry grannies - every kind of granny you can think of! Of course, we held a granny convention where we realised that granny school just wasn’t the same anymore! They thought that your Brain Boxer was a ‘head’ and your Bread Basket was a ‘tummy’ that your ee-peepers were just ‘eyes’ so Granny Agnes had to step in and teach them all the right names….. And they GOT IT! After that it was clear that everyone was ready to graduate from Granny Academy and head out into the world to be their best granny selves! Wednesday 16th March In a Haunted House with cobwebs, and maybe even some spiders but no ghosts, lived three Grannies: Granny Arwa, Granny Hadir and Granny Mosaab. Granny Summer was just visiting. Grannies Emma, Levi and Jared lived in a tree house and in their garden they grew all types of veg and in their orchard they had bananas and strawberries and even blueberries. However their favourite breakfast was still corn flakes! Granny Bunny and Granny Areeb lived in a mansion by the trees at the bottom of their garden, the ones at the edge of the Deep Deep Forest. But the trees, the tress hold a secret! They turn into slowly creeping MONSTERS when the Grannies are not looking! The Castlemilk Hub pals dressed up with terrific gusto! Thursday 17th March What a wonderful second session!  Our carrot & coriander soup was very popular today with second helpings all round - it is always lovely to sit around the table as we share a meal and catch up on what all our families have been doing during the week. After we’d eaten it was time to play some games - we met some truly wonderful animals in the Funky Chicken, particularly Josephine’s Snapping Crocodile, Amelia’s Cheeky Lion and Beauty’s Beautiful Goat. I can’t wait to see what animals you all come up with next week! After that it was time to dress up and head into the forest to play Monster’s Footsteps. We met loads of grannies living in the forest with strange trees at the bottom of their garden, that seemed to turn into monsters and start creeping towards us. Blog posts are written by André! Week 2 of Bridgeton Porridge & Play!! Friday 18th March We had an amazing time on Friday 18th March with our lovely Porridge and Play families! We sang lots of fun songs & rhymes together and it was a delight to see everyone playing. We played some of our favourite games including Big as a Bear, Funky Chicken, Hello, My Name Is Joe, Dressing Up, Witches Fingers, Jelly On His Head and Grandma Grandma! What a week packed full of fun! Once again we had a glorious spread of food to share round the table which gives all our families time to catch up and talk to one another about the week they’ve had.
