Porridge & Play is running throughout 2022 with this six week block being the first of many great tales! Blog posts are written by TAZ! Week 2 of Castlemilk Porridge & Play!! Wednesday 16th March In a Haunted House with cobwebs, and maybe even some spiders but no ghosts, lived three Grannies: Granny Arwa, Granny Hadir and Granny Mosaab. Granny Summer was just visiting. Grannies Emma, Levi and Jared lived in a tree house and in their garden they grew all types of veg and in their orchard they had bananas and strawberries and even blueberries. However their favourite breakfast was still corn flakes! Granny Bunny and Granny Areeb lived in a mansion by the trees at the bottom of their garden, the ones at the edge of the Deep Deep Forest. But the trees, the tress hold a secret! They turn into slowly creeping MONSTERS when the Grannies are not looking! The Castlemilk Hub pals dressed up with terrific gusto! They strutted their stuff about and made themselves into mysterious looking trees that turned into monsters when the intrepid Grannies were busy cooking breakfast…We had the Desire Bush and the Pemi Tree, the Ife, Nicola and Michelle Trees were mysterious and funny! The Catherine and Freya [...]

Find out what the Cranhill  group get up to in their Porridge & Play Hub adventures each week! Porridge & Play is running throughout 2022 with this six week block being the first of many great tales!  Blog posts are written by Effie! Week 2 of Cranhill Porridge & Play!! Thursday 17th March What a wonderful second session!  Our carrot & coriander soup was very popular today with second helpings all round - it is always lovely to sit around the table as we share a meal and catch up on what all our families have been doing during the week. After we’d eaten it was time to play some games - we met some truly wonderful animals in the Funky Chicken, particularly Josephine’s Snapping Crocodile, Amelia’s Cheeky Lion and Beauty’s Beautiful Goat. I can’t wait to see what animals you all come up with next week! After that it was time to dress up and head into the forest to play Monster’s Footsteps. We met loads of grannies living in the forest with strange trees at the bottom of their garden, that seemed to turn into monsters and start creeping towards us. We had dancing trees, scary trees and lots of giggly trees but none of the grannies were scared at all! Granny Fatima, who lives with her baby monkey in a treehouse was far [...]

Storyplay for the Planet Zine

2022-08-18T16:00:56+00:00

Welcome to the Storyplay For The Planet blog, where we share the stories of all the adventures we've had! Get in touch to find out how to join. Saturday 12th March 2022 Our celebration & zine launch on Saturday was a brilliant way to finish our Storyplay for the Planet project. We have had a truly fantastic time over the last few months meetings families from all over Glasgow Centre East Ward and hearing their creative ideas and solutions to help us tackle Climate Change. We put this zine together but the ideas inside came from each and every family who came along and shared with us at our school, nursery, community and outdoor sessions. At our celebration session, we did our warm up and met some Funky Animals and then we went flying in our balloons to show our guests the kind of things that we saw over the last few months! We flew high up over the sky and when we looked down we saw a dirty, muddy, smelly river. Well…. we couldn’t allow that! So we landed our balloons and got to work cleaning out the muck. We had tubes to suck out all the oil, we had bin bags to recycle all the rubbish and when it was clean we were able to go for a swim. The water was [...]

Thursday 10th March Porridge and Play is back!!!   We had a fantastic first session at Cranhill Development Trust with all of the families who came to join us. It was an absolute delight to see the families playing together and getting stuck in to having fun. After we warmed up and met loads of Funky Animals we went flying in our Balloons and that’s when things really got interesting! As we were floating up in the sky we looked down and Heather saw a dinosaur and a lion hanging out together. When we looked a little closer Ryan saw some other animals heading towards them and we realised they were having a birthday party! We decided we better land our Flying Balloons and take a look but we couldn’t turn up to a party empty handed so we worked together to bake a cake. ‘Let’s Bake a cake, let’s bake a cake. Think of all the things that we like best. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, what shall we [...]

This week we had amazingly creative funky chicken animals like the Undecidable Lion by Adeelah and Muizza’s Angry Armadillo. Afterwards, we had a chat about Armadillos incorporating learning into fun play. After the session, we decided to look more into this animal and share what we have learned. “Armadillos are small mammals related to sloths and anteaters. They have a tough armor that protects them from enemies and other dangers. The word armadillo is Spanish for “little armored one.” "Armadillos have a heavy build with short legs and strong, curved claws. There are 20 species, or types, of armadillo. They live mainly in or near hot regions of Central and South America. One species lives in the southern United States. Most species live in open areas, but some live in forests. Armadillos [...]

We ended up at the Great Wall of China, which when we touched it was pretty warm and tasted...like hot chocolate! Ameen, Amir and Abdullah said their part of the wall tasted like Strawberries, so everyone had a taste! Someone also spotted a banana tiger on top of the wall!   Then a Guard appeared and asked us to help him prepare for a great party! Precious sang Sent a Letter to My Love brilliantly and the Guard was so impressed that he asked us to come up with a dance for the ball. We worked together to make a choreography and everyone had fantastic moves! Laith said “This is fun” - we thought so too! When it was time to head back to the Magic Ball, we first had to get through [...]
