A Mucky Monsters’ Brew!!!

Welcome to the Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Messy play makes for hilarious play! Saturday 25th February We concocted a glorious Mucky Brew covering ourselves with eggshells and soil, crumbled unicorn cookies, honey, flour, a bucket of chocolate pudding, raw eggs, honey on our legs & uncooked porridge in our mouths… Beautifully sticky! Fabulously stinky! Incredibly revolting! HILARIOUSLY MESSY! And out of that fabulously stinky mess, a very messy bunch of Monsters appeared! We met One Leg Unicorn Monster & Bat Monster, Smart Monster & Scary Monster, Smelly Fly Monster, The Hattery Monster with her bag of hats, Spider Monster, Magic Monster & even Hero Monster came along. Worried Monster found a wee ball but all the other Monsters knew that was no ordinary ball but a Magic Ball and so our messy journey began! All the monsters landed in a cave that had a rather weird echo… we tried roaring and Magic Monster played with the echo by making a groovy sound that came back even groovier. A few spiders appeared and as Nest Monster was telling everyone how unsure about them she was, a much bigger spider showed up! Welcome to the Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! ‘We could make the biggest cake in the world!’ Tuesday 21st February Chef Guacamole & side-kick Chef Octopus Jelly were in a bit of a pickle. The biggest celebration in town was about to take place on Saturday and our chef friends were quite unprepared. You see, all the children of the town share the same birthday and this special occasion definitely needs a bit of flair. ‘But the children are just SO BORED of our recipes!’ said Chef Guacamole ‘Yes! They are no longer so interested in my delicious octopus jellies …' sighed Chef Octopus Jelly ‘We could make the biggest cake in the world!’ The fabulous Storyplay Chefs came to the rescue.  ‘Oh wow! Will you help us? We could do with the help of some very creative chefs from around the world.’ Mrs Purple Chef makes purple food and Rainbow Chef makes rainbow cakes. Tiger Chef cooks chocolate and collaborates with his close friend Ketchup Chef. Chef Junior makes tomato pasta and Colourful Chef makes colourful food. Porridge & Play Castlemilk is a Licketyspit Storyplay project for families with 3-8 year olds in the area. Find all of Porridge & Play Castlemilk's adventures here! Blog posts are written by Sarah! Back for a winter family meet up! Wednesday 15th February What fabulous adventures we had at Castlemilk Library with all our friends and their families on Wednesday! After a very groovy Dancing Warm-up, a meeting with lots of Funky animals and some very Mucky Brew, we dressed up as lots of wonderful characters. This included the amazing Mrs Silly from Silly-land created by Abdul, who got us to do lots of silly moves that made us feel great. Then suddenly, Ruby spotted the Magic Ball! Of course it was extremely tiny,  so we had to blow it up to fit us all in. Then we stepped inside and zipped ourselves up, ready for a new adventure. We talked of going to Africa, to Birmingham, to Space, to Candy-land and when we did actually arrive, we found ourselves facing a giant spider!  We quickly had to decide what to do next. Welcome to the Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Tuesday 14th February Kick-abouts, meeting Mr Hand, Mermaid ice cream making techniques & a Pool Party? It must be a Magic Ball Adventure! Saturday morning, still cold outside but look over there there's the sun! Get together online with your pals and find that groove is the heart. People are magic, unique yet the same We love to dress up with jelly on our head! Magic Ball Magic Ball tell us where we’re gonna go Football Land with Lady Dragon kick-abouts and Ball Pool fun Swimming down deeper and deeper 'til we meet up with Mr Hand! ‘I am lost! can you help me?’ Ope talked about a map Sam read it for everybody ‘We must all swim-  and quite fast!’ And together we dive deeper til we hit a lovely cave where a Mermaid makes seaweed ice cream and she teaches the best way to mash, crush, flavour and shake! Grannies and Dragons? We’re back online!

Welcome to the Porridge & Play Online blog where we share our stories and adventures! Tuesday 7th February Full house at the first Storyplay City Online session of 2023!!! Our very keen Saturday lot were beaming with expectation and the Licketyspit team couldn’t stop smiling as more and more friends arrived to Storyplay together! Saturdays are even more exciting with friends and family coming together for imaginary play, songs, rhymes, games and whatever surprises we’ll create using the great power of our imaginations. It seemed rather fitting to kick start with a dance to a tune that makes everyone ‘Happy’ and to follow it with our warm up game Big As Bear! Do you know the Angry Dragon? It goes ‘Huff and Puff! Huff and Puff! Huff and Puff!’ We also became Barking Dogs, Funky Bikes, Happy Unicorns and Silly Ducks. We were all very ready for a Dressing Up and we transformed into very special Grannies! We had Granny Leopard who is very fast and makes chocolate chips and white chocolate cookies very fast too. And what about Cool Granny and RockStar Granny? We met Granny Bunny who loves soup in the morning and Granny Doctor who can tell what’s wrong with you in a flash and advise you on the best treatment! A Rollicking time in Ruchill!!

Saturday 19th November 2022 We had an amazing time at our Porridge & Play Ruchill & Online celebration! It was so lovely to see all our families together in one big space and wonderful to join up with our online crew too and have so much fun together! We all started with a brilliant boogie which warmed us up ready for an afternoon adventure. As well as the Funky Chicken, we also met the Funky Unicorn, the Cheeky Cheetah and the Funky Dinosaur and many other fascinating creatures! Then, when we dressed up as forest creatures, Sean turned into a fox, Gabby became a squirrel,  Fares was a super spinning animal, Bukky was a cat  and we also had a buffalo, a bear, elephants, deer and a spiritual animal! We all looked for the Magic Ball and Gabby found it very quickly, which was marvellous, and with so many friends, we blew it up in no time at all. Very soon we found ourselves in a forest and as we moved through the trees, we spied a bear who had lost his cave, so we had to help him find it again. When we got there it was very dark, but also nice and cosy and we soon realised that the bear was hungry. A Week 6 Whiteinch Celebration!

Wednesday 16th November 2022 This week we had our fabulous celebration! It was so much much fun getting dressed up as forest animals! We had lots of birds with one from the bird cave, a bear, a bat and a fox and also some unknown animals from unknown places. The Magic Ball was nowhere to be found until luckily Zofia found it and we climbed inside, zipped ourselves in and decided where we might go? Well, we ended up in a beautiful forest where the bird cave was and we started looking around for wolves until all of a sudden there was a mighty howling and we found two actual wolves! The only problem was, we couldn’t understand them, so Aseel and Ellie did a great job of communicating with them, because we soon discovered that the wolves were hungry and needed some food. We were so glad they were friendly wolves and didn’t want to eat us, so we happily fed them! After a while the biggest wolf started drawing a picture in the air and we wondered what he was trying to tell us, then suddenly, we realised he was drawing a clock-face and he just wanted to play his favourite game, which  was “What’s The Time Mr Wolf?" An Exciting Celebration at the Pearce!!!!

Tuesday 15th November What an exciting Celebration we had in Govan to mark the final week of Porridge and Play at the Pearce Institute! The Magic Ball took us up into the sky and then we landed at the North Pole!! We met a sad looking penguin and Shadda thought the penguin needed his Mum so we all became penguins to make him feel better and decided to help him find his home. Penguin Shams led the way with a lovely penguin waddle and we  all walked like penguins. We found the Penguin’s house and discovered an underwater cave. We put on our underwater shoes and goggles and swam and surfed in the water. Whoosh! Penguin Mohammed found a magic egg and then finally Penguin Mujahid found the Penguin’s friends and we all celebrated again. As a special Celebration treat this week everyone brought along some special food to share. Asha brought a tasty tuna and tomato pasta and Wafa brought macaroni cheese. Ahlam brought some lovely salty cake with olives and feta and Maha brought delicious Gima. We had a flan from Sultana for desert! There was so much yummy food! Pirates of Govan!!!

Tuesday 8th November Pirates of Govan!!! We had some new faces in Govan this week as we said hello to Virginia, Paul and Johnny who came along to join Hilde and the usual Govan Gang. We all showed Paul and Virginia how to be as Big As A Bear and then had a lovely dance. Mira saw a fish swimming in the sea and Azeem saw a fish too! Everyone dressed up as pirates and we ran around the Pirate Ship. Pirate Mohammed and Pirate Mujahid swabbed the decks and Pirate Shams and Pirate Ohi hoist the sail. Then there was a knock on the door and to everyone’s surprise a sad Pirate Paul appeared. He was speaking a beautiful language that Hilde said was Punjabi. Punjabi Pirate Paul was sad because it was his birthday and no-one had made a cake for him! It was Pirate Agi’s birthday too so everyone baked fantastic cakes for Pirate Paul and Pirate Agi then sang Happy Birthday to them. What a week in Govan! A Feast For A Funky Chicken

Saturday 5th November 2022 We had a wonderful time exploring different lands and baking a marvellous cake this week! Interestingly, apart from meeting the usual Funky Chicken, we also met a Dancing Dog, a Singing Snake and an Annoying Ant! Hope we meet them again! Then we flew up high into the sky hanging on tightly to our balloons and we spied with our telescopes a beautiful lake and a ship and on the ship there were people dancing a jig! We danced too and had great fun! We flew further and further across the globe with our second balloon and ended up hovering high above The Pyramids. Emmanuel told us that inside the Pyramids there was a house with mummified remains. It also turned out that Tutenkhamun was there! It looked like there was lots of gold! Then Andre spied, The Enchanted forest that Gabby had mentioned earlier. Gabby told us she saw Giant Magical Bunnies, so we flew down to have a look. They were indeed huge and white and soft and fluffy. They started to eat carrots and when they munched a piece of carrot, they started to shrink until they got so small we could put them on our laps and cuddle them.
