Porridge & Play Whiteinch Week 4

Outdoor Storyplay!

Whiteinch Blog!

25th September 2025

This Wednesday was a sunny day, so we thought we’d go outside to play!

First we played the Funky Chicken, the Happy Tiger Bunny, the Grumpy Kitten!

We danced and sang as we set off, sticking together with all our stuff.

Through the tunnel and up the stairs, past the pond we walked in pairs.

Into the park and in a circle.

We picked up balloons – black, pink, blue, purple!

High in the sky we flew to see some jumping fish down in the sea!

They were having so much fun, we flew down too to swim in the sun.

Ah, into the waves we went and yet that’s not where our story ends.

A hot air balloon took us up to the trees and what could we see?

A castle made of diamonds and gold “I know” said Gaia “Let’s use these backpack balloons to fly over!”

The Queen of the Castle was Princess Nina who gave us snacks from her golden fridge and golden bicycles to get home in.

Golden blueberries and diamond gifts. What a generous princess she is!

Then back to the library to snack and say:

“We love outdoor Storyplay!”

Next time

It was lovely to Storyplay with old friends and new in this session.

Remember next week is our last session of this block.

We’ll play some games we haven’t let played, and some of your favourites!

The Storyplay Games

All our games are on our Lickety Playcards. You will get your very own pack in the final week to help you Storyplay at home!

Reflective Drawing

We almost always do ‘Reflective drawing’ at the end of a Storyplay session. It’s nice to relax and draw & think about what we’ve all done & how we feel about it.

Reflective drawing isn’t about doing a ‘good’ drawing – it’s about drawing whatever comes into your head when you think about what you’ve just done.

But as you draw you realise more about what you thought or imagined in the session. And it’s great to share that with everyone & hear what they thought! So many things go on in Storyplay!

Here are some of our Reflective Drawings from this week:

Read some of the artists’ reflections from the Lickety Art Gallery:

That’s shoes and that’s my name.

Lina, Whiteinch

I’ve drawn the old granny looking for food. Trees and some clouds. When the Grany is making something they trees scare her.

Leah, Whiteinch

That’s me and that’s Gaia. Playing Monsters Footsteps and that’s the treehouse and that’s the stuff they’re making.

Christell, Whiteinch

A castle. Mine,  like in the game. A golden fridge with silver as well.

Nina, Whiteinch
That’s the granny and those are the tress and thats the sign of the wild woods. Every time she looks back the trees come closer and closer. Liked the granny game.

Aaliyah, Whiteinch
Hot air balloon.

Kiran, Whiteinch

See you again soon!
