Wednesday 30th March Licketyspit & our Castlemilk pals got together once again at Castlemilk Community Centre on the last Wednesday before the Easter holidays. We sat around the table tucking into our beautiful food and we welcomed a new family Yang, Li, Celine & Lewis who joined in with lovely smiles, ready for some Porridge & Play! ‘I am a witch! HAHAHAHA!’ The witchy cackles could be heard all over Castlemilk! Anita was a very cheery witch & Catherine the Witch tickled Taz to the ground when she got her!! Eshal & Jared were two very tricksy witches working together to get us all and Yang a was very focused witch! 'Mucky Me, Mucky You, Mucky Mucky Mucky Brew!' Rotten egg and pizza sauce, Scoop some slime out of a pot! Pasta, cake, whipped cream in your ears Plant your face in jelly without any fears! Blog posts are written by André! Week 3 of Bridgeton Porridge & Play Friday 25th March We loved seeing everyone once again for our Bridgeton Porridge and Play session on Friday 25th March! It was a beautifully sunny day so we played outside in the sun. Outside play is so important for our development, we learn and grow so much when we play outside together. Some of our favourite games made an appearance this week. We started off being as BIG as a BEAR! We then met the Funky Chicken and some amazingly fun animals! Soon we met Fred who had Jelly on his Head! We all got together for some Dessing Up, we love Dressing Up at Licketyspit! We can create creative and fun costumes from just the clothes we have laying around our own homes. Maybe you could do some dressing up in the Easter Holidays? Once we were dressed up, we became Pirates returning from the deep deep sea to sing a song about our Grandma. Thursday 24th March What an exciting session!  After our usual warm up we decided it was time to dress up and this week we all became Grannies! We had scary grannies, funny grannies, nice grannies, hungry grannies - every kind of granny you can think of! Of course, we held a granny convention where we realised that granny school just wasn’t the same anymore! They thought that your Brain Boxer was a ‘head’ and your Bread Basket was a ‘tummy’ that your ee-peepers were just ‘eyes’ so Granny Agnes had to step in and teach them all the right names….. And they GOT IT! After that it was clear that everyone was ready to graduate from Granny Academy and head out into the world to be their best granny selves! Wednesday 23rd March Licketyspit's Castlemilk Sunny Day Cake Recipe INGREDIENTS: 3 Licketyspit actors 7 families 22 children 1 big enough space Your  amazing imaginations! METHOD: -Walk about your community and get to your nearest Community Centre. -Say hi to everyone and find the Porridge & Play room - Enjoy a lovely bowl of soup & bread, fresh fruit and juice while you have a catch up with your friends - Make a nice BIG CIRCLE so you can see everyone and everyone can see you! - Warm up your body, voice and brain with Big As A Bear - Have a round of Funky Chicken - Dress up in old clothes to create a fabulous character like, for example, a Crazy Chef - Sit in your Big Circle in front of the biggest imaginary mixing bowl you’ve ever encountered and get all the Chefs to add in any ingredients that takes their fancy! - Mix it all up, transfer to the big cake tin and bake in the oven! Wednesday 16th March In a Haunted House with cobwebs, and maybe even some spiders but no ghosts, lived three Grannies: Granny Arwa, Granny Hadir and Granny Mosaab. Granny Summer was just visiting. Grannies Emma, Levi and Jared lived in a tree house and in their garden they grew all types of veg and in their orchard they had bananas and strawberries and even blueberries. However their favourite breakfast was still corn flakes! Granny Bunny and Granny Areeb lived in a mansion by the trees at the bottom of their garden, the ones at the edge of the Deep Deep Forest. But the trees, the tress hold a secret! They turn into slowly creeping MONSTERS when the Grannies are not looking! The Castlemilk Hub pals dressed up with terrific gusto! Thursday 17th March What a wonderful second session!  Our carrot & coriander soup was very popular today with second helpings all round - it is always lovely to sit around the table as we share a meal and catch up on what all our families have been doing during the week. After we’d eaten it was time to play some games - we met some truly wonderful animals in the Funky Chicken, particularly Josephine’s Snapping Crocodile, Amelia’s Cheeky Lion and Beauty’s Beautiful Goat. I can’t wait to see what animals you all come up with next week! After that it was time to dress up and head into the forest to play Monster’s Footsteps. We met loads of grannies living in the forest with strange trees at the bottom of their garden, that seemed to turn into monsters and start creeping towards us. Blog posts are written by André! Week 2 of Bridgeton Porridge & Play!! Friday 18th March We had an amazing time on Friday 18th March with our lovely Porridge and Play families! We sang lots of fun songs & rhymes together and it was a delight to see everyone playing. We played some of our favourite games including Big as a Bear, Funky Chicken, Hello, My Name Is Joe, Dressing Up, Witches Fingers, Jelly On His Head and Grandma Grandma! What a week packed full of fun! Once again we had a glorious spread of food to share round the table which gives all our families time to catch up and talk to one another about the week they’ve had. Welcome to the Storyplay For The Planet blog, where we share the stories of all the adventures we've had! Get in touch to find out how to join. Saturday 12th March 2022 Our celebration & zine launch on Saturday was a brilliant way to finish our Storyplay for the Planet project. We have had a truly fantastic time over the last few months meetings families from all over Glasgow Centre East Ward and hearing their creative ideas and solutions to help us tackle Climate Change. We put this zine together but the ideas inside came from each and every family who came along and shared with us at our school, nursery, community and outdoor sessions. At our celebration session, we did our warm up and met some Funky Animals and then we went flying in our balloons to show our guests the kind of things that we saw over the last few months! We flew high up over the sky and when we looked down we saw a dirty, muddy, smelly river. Well…. we couldn’t allow that! So we landed our balloons and got to work cleaning out the muck. Friday 11th March We have had so much fun at our first Porridge and Play Bridgeton session on Friday 11th March at the wonderful Church House where we played all sorts of games outside with our coats and jackets on but not before we had a lovely feast with soup, bread and fruit all around the same table! The session was fun and it was so much fun to meet again with all our families! We really loved seeing all the fantastic grown-ups fully taking part! Seeing Moria take part in Funky Chicken was a real highlight. We sang our rhymes load and proud shouting out Big as a Bear! Right from the start. Thursday 10th March Porridge and Play is back!!!   We had a fantastic first session at Cranhill Development Trust with all of the families who came to join us. It was an absolute delight to see the families playing together and getting stuck in to having fun. After we warmed up and met loads of Funky Animals we went flying in our Balloons and that’s when things really got interesting! As we were floating up in the sky we looked down and Heather saw a dinosaur and a lion hanging out together. When we looked a little closer Ryan saw some other animals heading towards them and we realised they were having a birthday party!
