Porridge & Play Whiteinch Week 1

A journey around the world!

Whiteinch Blog!

3rd September 2025

Wow wow wow, what a fantastic first week back in Whiteinch!

We loved meeting up with old friends again, and introducing them to new friends from Whiteinch Nursery and Whiteinch Primary.

The Funky Chicken was joined by the Cheeky Monkey, the Crazy Cat and even the Happy Capybara!

Then up we went in our Flying Balloons!

Candice saw the River Clyde.

Lina saw a boat – it was a pirate boat!

With birds and butterflies flying high above.

Aaliyah saw a running cat and Elijah heard music from the pirates!

Virginia spotted some ice cream and we all flew down for a cone.

Deon had a sweet blue ice cream and Gaia had a bubblegum ice-cream.

But oh no, Gaia spotted some lava – it was a volcano!

And Nina saw people trying to jump into the volcano and a bear entering the lava!

With a library card you can take loads of books home!

Lucky we were so high up. Just then, a Naughty Seagull popped the balloon and sent us back to earth.

When we were back, we transformed into a collection of fun and magical characters. A bit like characters from books!

Lots of us took out books and some of us even got our very own library cards for the first time.

We can’t wait to hear your book reviews next time!

Until then, clap your hands and let’s all sing

Grandma Grandma sick in bed…!

Sarah, Andre, Ruby, Virginia and our Whiteinch Library friends

The Storyplay Games

All our games are on our Lickety Playcards. You will get your very own pack in week 5 to help you Storyplay at home!

Reflective Drawing

We almost always do ‘Reflective drawing’ at the end of a Storyplay session. It’s nice to relax and draw & think about what we’ve all done & how we feel about it.

Reflective drawing isn’t about doing a ‘good’ drawing – it’s about drawing whatever comes into your head when you think about what you’ve just done.

But as you draw you realise more about what you thought or imagined in the session. And it’s great to share that with everyone & hear what they thought! So many things go on in Storyplay!

Here are some of our Reflective Drawings from this week:

Read some of the artists’ reflections from the Lickety Art Gallery:

It’s a lava balloon – its my balloon. I was flying in it! But now it’s up there! There was a snake – biting people, 10 people they’re right there the snake is still there!

Elijah,

It’s the lady and the other person tried to save him from the volcano. That’s how they took the ball and put it there and then they went on the magic ball. I liked it when we saved the girl from the volcano.

Christell,

This is a normal bear switched into only a headless bear. This is a snake – not a normal snake, a banana snake. This is a jumping rope – a human jumping rope. This is a banana but not anymore it’s a slice of apple! Do you remember the slice of apple – now it’s an apple – now it’s turned into a grape! Did you see this grass? Ear grass!

Kevin,

The sun. we had snack and story and fun! A yellow sun.
